Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), state government's housing body, has set a policy for the sale of its unsold 11,184 apartments across various divisional circles. The policy has been set following the recommendation of a committee that was constituted to review and study the issue. Basis the new policy, MHADA’s Vice Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Sanjeev Jaiswal has directed the divisional boards of the housing body to take immediate action for the sale of vacant flats. As per the policy specifications laid down by the authority, the divisional boards are directed to submit proposals to the government for relaxation of certain conditions for the option of ‘direct sale of apartments’ and seek approval. Individuals, organizations, government, semi-government employees, MHADA employees who are interested in buying 100 or more flats in bulk can be offered a discount on the price of the flats under this option. Under the option of flat sale by rent instalments, an entity can be appointed on certain terms and conditions basis of agency fee through tender or expression of interest. In this option, the agency appointed to sell the flats will be responsible for paying all the amounts due to MHADA, along with suitable bank guarantees. As per the third option of renting apartments, unsold vacant flats can be leased by divisional boards to private companies, government-semi-government institutions, banks, charitable institutions, hospitals, educational institutions, employees of contractors implementing large projects of the government.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday announced a slew of new policies including plans to double the state's exports, modernise its logistics and promote renewable energy manufacturing, while opening the Bengal Global Business Summit here. NEW DELHI : The Union government has decided to cut the minimum export price (MEP) it set for basmati rice, a person aware of the development said, following complaints by traders that overseas shipments had become unviable. The government, which imposed a floor price of $1200 a tonne for overseas shipments in August to cool domestic prices, approved a decision to reduce it to $950 a tonne in a meeting late on Monday evening, the person cited above said. The decision is yet to be notified.

Rice exporters have requested the Centre for a flat export duty of USD 80 per tonne for parboiled rice instead of the current 20 per cent duty to smoothen trade, a top official of the rice exporters' umbrella body said on Sunday. The Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF) has also requested the government to reconsider its export ban on white rice which was imposed in July and reduction in the minimum export price for basmati rice to USD 850 per tonne to prevent negative impacts on both export volumes and farmers. On Friday, the government had extended the 20 per cent duty on parboiled rice exports until March 24.

MUMBAI : Westbridge Capital has acquired 1.5% of Meesho at a valuation of $3.5 billion, two people with knowledge of the deal said. The investment firm acquired the stake from Meesho’s seed investor, Venture Highway. Venture Highway will retain around 3.8% of Meesho, one of the people cited above added, requesting anonymity.
