Israel-related stocks under pressure after Hamas' shock attack
chipmakers, diamond processors and software-services providers. Saturday’s assault has sparked fresh concern about geopolitical risks among investors just when global financial markets were already grappling with the impact of high-interest rates and the slowdown in China’s economy. Oil surged more than 5% while US equity futures dropped in Asia trading, as the risk of the conflict escalating across the Middle East region remains acute. “The Israel-Hamas conflicts over the weekend may escalate geopolitical tensions in the Middle East region, causing risk-off trades,” Tina Teng, an analyst at CMC Markets wrote in a note. “Markets will be concerned about the rippling effects to the region.” The MSCI Asia Pacific Index treaded water as markets in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan were closed for a holiday, while trading in Hong Kong was halted due to a typhoon. Indian stocks brace for Israel-Hamas war impact
MUMBAI : Indian stocks may open lower on Monday, in line with other global stock indices, in response to the Israel-Hamas war that erupted early Saturday, fund managers said. While they expect no immediate cause for panic, they are closely monitoring the evolving situation as any widening of the war could profoundly impact Indian stocks because of a surge in oil prices, and heightened volatility in rupee and bond yields . Israel’s benchmark TA-35 Index, tracking 35 top companies on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, which runs from Sunday through Thursday, plunged 6.47% on Sunday.

Plants don’t have ears. But they can still detect sound
Another, published last year, found that marigolds and sage plants exposed to the noise of traffic from a busy motorway suffered stunted growth, and produced a range of stress compounds. Other research, much of it done in China, reports that certain frequencies, played in acoustically controlled environments like greenhouses, can affect seed germination and even boost crop yields.
