Jeff Bezos breaks silence on why Washington Post did not endorse any candidate for U.S elections; here's what he said
Jeff Bezos defended the Washington Post’s decision of not endorsing a single US Presidential candidate just ahead of the US Presidential Elections scheduled to be held on November 5 while he asserted that political endorsements eventually creates a perception of bias. According to New York Post, in an op-ed which was recently published, Jeff Bezos described the move as a principal decision which eventually reflects the commitment of the newspaper towards independence. New York Post reported that Jeff Bezos also made an argument that endorsements do not really influence undecided voters and emphasized on the need for media credibility acknowledging the fact that public trust in journalism has eventually declined. Bezos says Washington Post ended US presidential endorsements on 'principle'
Bezos, the billionaire owner of the Washington Post, said on Monday that his choice for the US newspaper not to endorse a candidate in the presidential election was «a principled decision» and denied it was linked to personal interests. In an op-ed posted to the newspaper's website, Bezos argued that with trust in news media falling, steps needed to be taken to address accusations of partisanship. «What presidential endorsements actually do is create a perception of bias. A perception of non-independence. Ending them is a principled decision,» he wrote.

Washington Post reports Elon Musk briefly worked illegally in US in 1990s
Washington Post reported on Saturday that South African-born billionaire businessman Elon Musk worked illegally in the United States during a brief period in the 1990s while building a startup company. The news outlet reported that Musk arrived in Palo Alto, California, in 1995 to attend Stanford University but never enrolled in his graduate studies program there. Instead, he developed software company Zip2, which sold in 1999 for around $300 million, according to the outlet. Two immigration law experts quoted by the Post said Musk would have needed to be enrolled in a full course of study in order to maintain a valid work authorization as a student.

India's headline inflation expected to moderate from Q4 of this financial year: RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das
headline inflation trajectory is expected to moderate from the last quarter of this financial year, while unexpected weather events and worsening of geopolitical conflicts pose a major challenge, Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das said in Washington DC. On inflation, the RBI Governor spoke about ensuring inflation reaches to the 4% level on a durable basis. Pertinent to note that last week, the governor said that a policy rate cut would be very risky at this juncture. 'Resilient growth has given us the space to focus on inflation so as to ensure its durable descent to the 4 per cent target," Das said at the Macro Week 2024 organised by the Peterson Institute for International Economics at Washington DC.
