Stock market today: Despite weak sentiments at Indian stock market, PSU stocks — REC, GAIL, Coal India, MMTC and NMDC have climbed to a new 52-week peak during Friday deals. All these PSU stocks opened with upside gap and went on to hit new 52-week high during early morning session. Out of these five PSU stocks, two stocks climbed to a new life-time peak while hitting intraday high on Friday.

The NSE Nifty index was trading 114.75 points down at 19679.25, while BSE Sensex was down 401.02 points at 66007.37 at the time of writing this report. In the Nifty index, Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 1.99 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 1.69 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 1.56 per cent), Cipla Ltd.(up 0.66 per cent) and Coal India Ltd.(up 0.60 per cent) were among the top gainers.

MUMBAI : Indian stock markets took cues from global stock markets to recoup all their losses of the previous day, as hopes of the Israel-Hamas war remaining confined to the Gaza strip caused a softening in crude prices, which was reinforced by Israel’s TA 35 Index trading up 0.9% at 1745 at the time of writing. Dovish comments by a senior Federal Reserve official also boosted sentiment. While FIIs remained sellers of a provisional ₹1,005.49 crore, DIIs purchased shares worth ₹1,963 crore.
