Flight 194 had been in the air for approximately two hours on a Friday evening when the pilot made the decision to return to its departure point. In an audio clip shared on X (formerly Twitter), the pilot mentioned that a passenger had suffered from diarrhea, affecting multiple areas of the aircraft, as per reports. Following the incident, the plane underwent a thorough cleaning process and eventually departed for Barcelona the following day. Delta, in a statement provided to the Insider website, confirmed that there had indeed been a «medical issue» on board, necessitating the return to Atlanta for cleaning purposes. The statement read: «Delta Flight 194 from Atlanta to Barcelona returned to Atlanta following an onboard medical issue.» This occurrence follows a recent incident in which 11 passengers and crew members were hospitalized due to severe turbulence on a Delta flight from Milan to Atlanta, as reported by the US-based airline.
