Apple announces USB-C port for iPhone 15, USB-C charging case for AirPods Pro 2. What you need to know?
Apple has officially confirmed the inclusion of a USB-C port in the upcoming iPhone 15, aligning with the European Union's regulations on cable standardization. The company's Wonderlust fall 2023 event primarily centered around the unveiling of the iPhone 15 and the latest Apple Watches. During the event, Apple also introduced a new USB-C charging case designed for the AirPods Pro 2. Notably, these upgraded earbuds are now equipped with dust resistance, boasting an IP54 rating, which is an improvement from their previous IPX4 rating. Moreover, they promise lossless audio quality when used in conjunction with the Apple Vision Pro, although this feature may have limited utility for the majority of users. Moving forward, the new USB-C charging case will come bundled with newly purchased AirPods Pro 2, as long as they are not part of the older stock. It remains unclear whether the case will be available for separate purchase for existing AirPods Pro 2 owners. During the product launch event, Apple shared its commitment to incorporating USB-C connectors not only in the iPhone 15 series but also in future versions of the AirPods Pro earphones and its wired EarPods headphones. These developments align with recent EU regulations, which were approved last year and mandate that all small and medium-sized electronic devices must adopt a standard charging cable, specifically USB-C, by the end of 2024. This initiative aims to reduce the number of cables required for various devices, ultimately benefiting consumers by reducing costs and contributing to the long-term reduction of electronic waste.

What is USB-C, the charging socket that replaced Apple's Lightning cable?
iPhone charging plug and falling in line with the rest of the tech industry by adopting a more widely used connection standard. A big part of the reason is a European Union common charging rule that's coming soon for the 27-nation bloc. Here's a look at the USB-C plug and what it means for consumers: The first part of the acronym stands for Universal Serial Bus, and it replaces earlier versions of the USB cables used on everything from printers and hard drives to computer mice and Kindle readers. The USB-C plug comes in a different shape than its predecessors — an elongated oval.

China’s Electric-Vehicle Makers Face EU Antisubsidy Probe
BRUSSELS—The European Union is launching an antisubsidy investigation into China’s electric-vehicle makers, opening a new front in the battle for leadership of the global clean-technology industry. The probe, announced Wednesday, reflects growing concern in Europe about the impact of low-price products from China on the bloc’s domestic industries. It could result in tariffs if officials from the European Commission, the bloc’s executive body, conclude that Chinese EV manufacturers are receiving subsidies that are hurting Europe’s auto industry.
