QS releases its first-ever European university rankings: Here are the top 10 schools
These rankings cover 12 categories, notably introducing the category of 'International student diversity,' a measure that goes beyond simply assessing the proportion of international students, taking into account the number of nationalities they represent, providing a more accurate reflection of diversity. The United Kingdom led the pack, with the most represented universities on this list, accounting for 15.5% of the institutions, followed by Türkiye at 10.6%, Germany at 7.8%, Italy at 7.5%, France at 7.2%, Spain at 6.4%, Poland at 4.8%, and Ukraine at 4.8%. 106 European universities that have not previously been ranked have been added this year, signaling the evolving landscape of higher education. These institutions hail from North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, and Albania. Topping the charts in the QS World University Rankings: Europe 2024 is the University of Oxford, leading seven UK institutions in the top 10. Alongside the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London have secured a perfect score of 100 points in categories such as 'Academic reputation,' 'Employer reputation,' and 'International Research Network.' This underscores the UK's robust higher education system, renowned for its exceptional teaching and research standards. Additionally, some universities within the top 10 have over 10% of their student population from international backgrounds, highlighting the UK's appeal to global students.

'If I look at my bank balance, it is 900 euros': India's number 1 tennis player Sumit Nagal
₹1 crore that keeps him going on the ATP Tour, is now left with less than ₹1 lakh in his bank account, reported NDTV. Nagal, who has been training at the Nansel Tennis Academy in Germany for a few years, is in such a condition that he may not be able to train at his favorite place in the first three months of season 2023. Before he finally managed to fund his stay in Germany, his friends Somdev Devvarman and Christopher Marquis helped him stay in shape in January and February.

I have just 900 euros in my account, not living a very comfortable life: Sumit Nagal
ATP Tour, India's number one tennis player Sumit Nagal is left with less than Rs one lakh in his bank account and a morose feeling of not leading a comfortable life. He has been training at the Nansel Tennis Academy in Germany for a few years but lack of funds meant that he could not train at his favourite place in the first three months of season 2023. His friends Somdev Devvarman and Christopher Marquis helped him stay in shape in January and February before he finally managed to fund his stay in Germany. The fund crunch is the story of probably every Indian tennis player but the fact that the country's number one singles player is not saving enough money for himself and his family just exposes the unhelpful system and the brutal Tour where the players wage lonely battles. To stay and play on the extravagant ATP Tour, Nagal has invested all his prize money, his salary from IOCL and the support he gets from Maha Tennis Foundation. The expenditure is related to his stay at the training centre in Peine and his travel for tournaments along with either his coach or a physio. «If I look at my bank balance, I have what I had at the beginning of the year.

Manchester United vs Bayern Munich live streaming: Kick off time, where to watch Man United's UEFA Champions League match
Both teams are considered frontrunners to progress from a group that also features Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen, particularly due to their squad improvements during the summer transfer window. Bayern remains unbeaten in German Bundesliga, while Manchester United finds itself in the lower half of the table with only two wins in five matches in English Premier League. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is already under scrutiny and things could get a lot more uncomfortable for the Dutchman if they suffer defeat against the six-time European champions in one of the standout fixtures of the opening week. United have lost three of their opening five games, including last weekend's 3-1 home reverse against Brighton and Hove Albion. Harry Kane's first Champions League game for Bayern Munich will be against familiar opposition on Wednesday when Manchester United visit the Allianz Arena and the England striker has warned against reading too much into their poor form. Kane has scored four goals already in the Bundesliga and Bayern are level on points with the leaders. Kane, who played in five Champions League campaigns with Tottenham Hotspur before signing for Bayern in the close season, said underestimating United would be dangerous.

Market Wrap: Sensex, Nifty end with deep cuts; investors lose over ₹2 lakh crore in a day
Nifty closed with solid losses on Wednesday, extending their losses into the second consecutive session amid mixed global cues ahead of the US Fed policy outcome while the US Treasury yields hovered near multi-year highs. The Fed is likely to keep rates unchanged today but the risk of inflation is not over yet with crude oil prices surging sharply in the recent past. Crude oil benchmark Brent Crude futures fell over a per cent in today's trade, slipping from its 10-month high level but they are still up nearly 30 per cent in the last three months after the output cut by OPEC+.

US defense chief urges nations to dig deep and give Ukraine more much-needed air defense systems
Lloyd Austin urged allied defense leaders Tuesday to «dig deep» and provide more air defense systems for Ukraine to help it block increasing barrages of Russian missiles, even as debate grows in Congress over aid to Kyiv. But while the allies said they will discuss how they can best help Ukraine's counteroffensive in the coming winter months, they appeared no closer to commitments on the longer-range missiles that Kyiv's leaders insist they need as they struggle to retake land gained by Russia earlier in the conflict. «Air defense is saving lives,» Austin said. «I urged allies and partners to dig deep and donate whatever air defense munitions they can as Ukraine heads into another winter of war.» Speaking at the close of the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, Austin said allies have done a «credible job» of getting some air defenses to the war, «but there's much more work to be done.

Pak sidesteps China on CPEC to seek economic bailout from the West
Pakistan is reportedly courting the United States to seek financial support to boost its sagging economic fortunes while sidestepping commitments made to China on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the flagship initiative under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The Pakistani leadership that came to power after Imran Khan was paying lip service to China on the CPEC while engaging the US for a bailout, said people aware of the matter. Work on the CPEC has been delayed by several months and the India-Middle East Europe Corridor is expected to rival the BRI, they said. The current caretaker government in Pakistan is reportedly seeking the help of the West for a bailout instead of approaching its all-weather ally China despite the latter’s attempts at various international fora to back Pakistan.
