Ruling BJP in Assam is banking on beneficiaries to win maximum number of Lok Sabha seats
BJP in Assam is banking on beneficiaries to win maximum number of Lok Sabha seats. Beneficiary model is hugely debated this election in Assam. BJP is campaigning that its schemes does not discriminate against any community and encompasses all. The party in election rallies have promised to further expand the beneficiaries. BJP in 2019 has wrested nine out of 14 Lok Sabha seats. However, there is realignment of constituencies and areas in Assam after the last year's delimitation exercise of constituencies. BJP and its allies are targeting to win over 12 seats in Assam.

Not just stocks, FPIs turn net sellers in debt market after a year. What's the stress?
FPIs have turned net sellers not just in the Indian equity market but also in the debt market for the first time since March last year. «A major trend in FPI activity this month is that FPIs have turned sellers into debt after sustained buying for several months. In April through 20th, FPIs sold debt worth Rs 12,885 crore. This again is the consequence of the rising US bond yields and the concern regarding rupee depreciation,» said Dr. V K Vijayakumar of Geojit Financial Services.

How AI-generated music is shaking up the industry and why artists are wary
TikTok user, wrote and produced a song called “Heart on my sleeve”. It sounded just like the Canadian rapper Drake and the singer-songwriter The Weeknd. The song went viral, racking up 15 million views on TikTok and hundreds of thousands of views each on Spotify and YouTube. But neither Drake nor The Weeknd had a clue about the song. They hadn’t sung a single line. Their vocals were generated by artificial intelligence (AI). The machine has moved on from synthesising sounds to generating singing voices. AI is on song everywhere. Anshuman Sharma and Aditya Kalway, two young producers assisting the music composer duo SalimSulaiman, recreated “Haule haule ho jayega”—the hit song in Shah Rukh Khan’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi—in the voice of Mohammed Rafi. “We came across some AI vocal models that could produce the voices of Indian singers like Kishore Kumar, Rafi and Sonu Nigam,” recalls Sharma. In September 2023, Kalway sang “Haule haule” in Rafi’s signature style, put it through a vocal filter and musically arranged it like a 1970s LaxmikantPyarelal romantic ditty. Its Instagram Reel got 2.6 million views and cheers from the music industry, including Vishal Dadlani, Shaan and Sonu Nigam.

Chinese military drone spotted flying close to the Philippines ahead of BrahMos delivery from India
WZ-7 Soaring Dragon drone of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was spotted flying in close proximity to the Philippines, ahead of preparations by the Southeast Asian country to receive the delivery of Indian BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, The Eurasian Times reported. According to the report, the distinctive joined-wing shape of the WZ-7 drone caught the attention of Raffy Tima, a correspondent for Philippine news organisation GMA News, as it traversed the skies over the West Philippine Sea, an area within the South China Sea to the northwest of the Philippines. The timing of this sighting is significant amid escalating tensions between China and the Philippines over territorial disputes, notably the Second Thomas Shoal and Scarborough Shoal, in the South China Sea, the report noted. The acquisition of the BrahMos missiles from India is perceived as a strategic move by the Philippines to enhance its defensive capabilities to counter China's assertiveness in the region.

"Rahul baba and his sister take vacation every 3 months while Modi ji...": Amit Shah
Amit Shah said on Thursday that on one side there is Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi who take vacation abroad every three months and on the other side, is Narendra Modi who does not take leave even on Diwali. Addressing a public meeting here today, Amit Shah exuded confidence in winning all the 25 seats in Rajasthan. «Rajasthan is going to give all 25 seats to Modi ji for the third time by doing a hat-trick. This election is clearly divided into two camps. On one side there is Congress which committed Rs 12 lakh crore scam and on the other side there is Narendra Modi, on whom nobody can put allegations of even 25 paisa. On one side there is Rahul baba and his sister who take vacation abroad every three months and on the other side there is Narendra Modi who does not take leave even on Diwali,» he said.

PBKS, GT look to resurrect campaigns
Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans will be desperate to arrest the slide and get back to winning ways in their Indian Premier League match here on Sunday. Former champions GT have slipped to eighth position in the pecking order after an embarrassing loss to Delhi Capitals at home, where they were bowled out for 89 to suffer their third defeat in four matches. PBKS are struggling in the ninth place following a nine-run loss to Mumbai Indians away on Thursday night, the margin of defeat made respectable by an incredible rearguard act by the in-form young duo of Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh after the team was tottering at 14/4 in a chase of 193. Five losses and two wins in seven outings hardly inspire confidence and irrespective of the fact that their upcoming opponents are also struggling to get their act right, PBKS will have their task cut out in front of their fans, who had little to cheer about so far this season at the newly-inaugurated home venue.
