India’s position unchanged at 42 on International IP Index 2024
India’s position remained unchanged at 42 at the International IP Index 2024 compared to 2023, with no change even on the index score which stood at 38.64% since 2022, the US Chamber of Commerce said in a report released on Wednesday. The index ranks 55 countries on their intellectual property (IP) regime. The top countries on the index were the USA (95.48%), UK (94.12%), France (93.12%), Germany (92.46%), Sweden (92.12%), Japan (91.26%), Netherlands (91.24%), Ireland (89.38%), Spain (86.44%) and Switzerland (85.98%).

US forces and the United Kingdom Armed Forces, with the support of several other countries, conducted strikes against 18 Houthi targets in Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist-controlled areas of Yemen, according to the US Central Command. The joint strikes, with support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, and New Zealand, were conducted on Saturday at 11:50 pm. CENTCOM shared on X, stating, «On Feb. 24, at approximately 11:50 p.m. (Sanaa Yemen time), U.S. Central Command forces alongside UK Armed Forces, and with support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, and New Zealand, conducted strikes against 18 Houthi targets in Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist-controlled areas of Yemen.»

In May 2023, Centrum Broking estimated the implied market cap of US-based aluminium manufacturer, Novelis, at approximately $9.7 billion. It was an “implied" market cap as Novelis is an unlisted entity, wholly owned by AV Minerals of the Netherlands, which in turn is under the full ownership of Kumaramangalam Birla's flagship Hindalco. With Hindalco's recent move to seek SEC approval for an IPO, this implied valuation may soon translate into an actual market cap as AV plans to sell part of its stake.
