One of the first neutral umpires in Tests, Piloo Reporter dies at 84
Piloo Reporter, one of the first two neutral umpires in the history of international cricket, passed away on Sunday in Mumbai because of illness. The 84-year-old Reporter was suffering from Cerebral Contusion disease and was being taken care of at his home by his wife and two daughters. The 1992 World Cup, which was played in Australia and New Zealand, was one of the tournaments apart from 14 Test matches and 22 ODIs that Reporter officiated in. Reporter, the sole Indian umpire in the 1992 World Cup, was known for his nimble signalling of a boundary. The 1986 Test match played between Pakistan and West Indies at Lahore was a bigger occasion for Reporter — it was the first instance for a 'neutral' umpire in international cricket.

UPS Art Continental film Actor star No takers for Roman Polanski film ‘The Palace’ in France
France, saying morality should not weigh on art. One of the most successful directors of his generation, Polanski fled the United States over a conviction for raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977, a crime he admitted. After the #MeToo movement gained global traction in 2017 following sexual abuse allegations against U.S. film producer Harvey Weinstein, a number of women alleged that Polanski had sexually assaulted them as teenagers as well. Polanski, a dual French-Polish national, denied the allegations which never went to trial, but he has since found it hard to secure global distribution deals for his movies, even if actors are still lining up to work with him. 'The Palace', a comedy set in a Swiss hotel peopled with a cast of grotesque characters, stars Mickey Rourke, John Cleese, Oliver Masucci, Fanny Ardant and Joaquim De Almeida. The producer Luca Barbareschi said he had sold distribution rights across continental Europe, but not in France, Britain or the United States, despite the fact well-known actors from all three countries appeared in the film. Barbareschi said Polanski's last movie 'An Officer And A Spy', which opened at the Venice Film Festival in 2019 to critical acclaim, had also never been seen in cinemas in the United States, Britain, Australia or New Zealand. «And we ask ourselves why there are wars.

Additionally, Fulham had a noteworthy performance in the Carabao Cup this week, eliminating Tottenham in a penalty shootout. UPS Target show boost China ramps up campaign to boost fragile economy, currency
China intensified efforts to stimulate the economy and support its currency, as investor concerns over the growth outlook persist. The central bank will trim the amount of foreign currency deposits banks are required to hold as reserves for the first time this year, the People’s Bank of China said Friday. The move came hours after authorities announced fresh stimulus for the beleaguered property sector and unveiled plans to expand tax breaks for child and parental care and education. The steps are the latest efforts to shore up confidence in the world’s second-largest economy, which is sagging under the weight of the persistent housing crisis, waning global demand and rising unemployment. Authorities have so far resorted to a drip-feed of targeted measures, avoiding the big-bang stimulus approach they deployed during the 2008 global financial crisis amid concerns over elevated debt levels. “The policy package exceeds market expectations,” said Zhaopeng Xing, senior China strategist at Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd. “Confidence will be boosted in the near term. We still need more evidence to confirm if it marks a turnaround.” Financial institutions will need to carry just 4% of their foreign exchange deposits in reserve starting Sept. 15, the PBOC said, compared to the current level of 6%.

Blockchain Citi Digital Platform Enterprise BNI Swift hails success of blockchain interoperability pilot
The banking co-operative in June announced that it was working with more than a dozen financial institutions and market infrastructures to test the use of its messaging network as a means to instruct the transfer of tokenised value over a range of public and private blockchain networks.Participants in the project include Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ), BNP Paribas, BNY Mellon, Citi, Clearstream, Euroclear, Lloyds Banking Group, SIX Digital Exchange (SDX) and The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation. Web3 services platform Chainlink was used as an enterprise abstraction layer to securely connect the Swift network to the Ethereum Sepolia network, while Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) enabled interoperability between the source and destination blockchains.Transfers of simulated tokenised assets took place - between two wallets on the same public distributed ledger technology network; between two wallets on different public blockchains; and between a public and private blockchain network.Tom Zschach, chief innovation officer at Swift says the findings have the potential to remove significant friction slowing the growth of tokenised asset markets and enable them to scale globally as they mature."For tokenisation to reach its potential, institutions will need to be able to seamlessly connect with the whole financial ecosystem," he says.
