Asia Cup: India may try out new combinations in meeting with Bangladesh ahead of title clash
India will be tempted to test their bench when they face an already knocked out Bangladesh in a Super Four match of the Asia Cup on Friday. The Rohit Sharma-led outfit will think deep whether to give as much game time as possible to its first-choice team or give an opportunity to some of the players on the bench ahead of the World Cup at home next month. The question of workload management is pertinent particularly in the case of bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah has bowled just 12 overs so far in the Asia Cup — five against Pakistan and seven against Sri Lanka.

Vivek Agnihotri & Anil Sharma hit back at Naseeruddin Shah for slamming ‘Gadar 2’ & ‘The Kashmir Files’, directors say actor is ‘frustrated’
Naseeruddin Shah recently expressed alarm at the trend of excessively nationalistic films hitting the bull’s eye at the box-office. Referring to two movies of this ilk — the Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel-starrer ‘Gadar 2’ and the controversial movie ‘The Kashmir Files’, the actor said such jingoistic movies are creating great harm, by perpetuating hatred against Pakistan as well as the Muslim community. Talking to the Free Press Journal, the ‘Mirch Masala’ actor said, “Now the more jingoist you are, the more popular you become because this is what has been ruling this country. It’s not enough to love your country but beat drums about it and you have to create imaginary enemies.

India vs Pakistan Asia Cup: Anand Mahindra calls last six a 'Surgical Strike', lauds 'Doctor' Kohli's 'effortless' move
Pakistan cricket always finds a huge audience, even if they are not fans of the sport. The same was true for the epic match held between Team India crushed Pakistan by 228 runs in a Super 4 match of the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka on Monday. In the rain-affected Asia Cup Super Four match, ace cricketer Virat Kohli scored a magnificent century against one of his favourite opponents Pakistan. The 34-year-old raised India's total to 356/2 with his unbeaten 122 in 94 balls. As KL Rahul batted beside him, Kohli showed excellent form as the pair crushed Pakistan's bowling lineup. Days after the iconic match, billionaire businessman Anand Mahindra, who is an avid cricket enthusiast, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share his analysis with his more than 10.7 million fans. Calling the last six of the last ball a "Surgical Strike" against Pakistan, the Chairman of Mahindra Group was all praise for Kohli's «effortless» movement. He said the cricketer deserves a medical degree. Alongside a video of the six on the last ball by Kohli, the auto boss tweet read, «He may be known as King Kohli but he deserves a medical degree. Doctor Kohli….» Despite his love for cricket, Mahindra believes in the superstition that if he tunes in to the television to watch a match, India lose. On Monday, when Rohit Sharma slammed his 50th half-century in 42 balls, the 69-year-old was tempted to switch on his TV to witness the spectacle live. Moments later, he was forced to switch off the TV when India lost their two openers — Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Mahindra apologises to his fans for causing this loss.

Pakistan government fears oil crisis as depots run dry
Pakistan government fears an oil crisis as retail outlets of some oil marketing companies (OMCs) were reportedly found dry at a few locations in the country, The Express Tribune newspaper reported. The Express Tribune is an English-language newspaper in Pakistan. The country's Petroleum Division called upon the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) chairman to take regulatory action against those companies operating dry retail outlets. Oil Director General Imran Ahmed in a letter dated September 12, informed the Ogra chairman that the energy minister had taken serious notice of the development, and directed that the regulatory authority may mobilize its enforcement team to ensure that all OMCs keep their retail outlets wet and well-supplied with the petroleum products. Referring to the Ogra/Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) daily reports, the DG oil's letter also highlighted that the country currently possessed sufficient stocks of petrol (MS) and high-speed diesel (HSD), stressing that any attempt to hoard petroleum products must be strongly discouraged and curbed, as per The Express Tribune. The letter emphasized that regulatory action may be taken against any OMC maintaining stocks lower than the mandatory requirement to stave off any potential countrywide shortage of petroleum products. The DG Oil also forwarded the critical directive to the OCAC secretary general and the Oil Marketing Association of Pakistan (OMAP) chairman. Due to the expected hike in oil prices, some of the petrol pumps in a bid to gain more inventory benefits, at the end of every fortnight, are used to the practice of seeking additional quantity of petroleum products when the oil prices are estimated to go up, as per the Express Tribue.

KL Rahul's form gives India a 'good headache' for World Cup
Ishan Kishan has usually been India's go-to wicketkeeper for limited-overs matches this year but it is clear he cannot take his place for granted with KL Rahul hitting top form after returning from injury at the Asia Cup. Kishan appeared to be first-choice for the gloves, not just because he has four fifties in his last five one-day knocks but also for the left-handed variety that he brings in a batting lineup dominated by right-handers. Rahul's first two knocks since returning from a thigh injury, however, have ensured he remains in contention, creating the «good headache» that chief selector Ajit Agarkar had anticipated after picking both in the World Cup squad.Rahul had only five minutes to prepare for the blockbuster Asia Cup match against Pakistan after Shreyas Iyer was a last-minute withdrawal due to a back spasm. But in his first outing since his coming back from injury he smashed an unbeaten 111 and forged a brilliant stand with fellow centurion Virat Kohli to set up India's comprehensive victory against their arch-rivals. The elegant right-hander featured in another crucial partnership, this time with Kishan, in Tuesday's low-scoring contest against hosts Sri Lanka, which India won by 41 runs. Rahul also kept wicket for the majority of the Pakistan innings and throughout the Sri Lankan innings. «I have been keeping wicket for a long time, more than two years now actually,» Rahul told reporters, adding that he was comfortable with the dual role. «So it's not new for me, and the team management has told me that this would be my role in the squad — to play in the middle order and keep wicket.» Primarily a versatile batter comfortable in any position in the top and middle order, Rahul said he had honed his keeping
