Both India, Pakistan should create conducive conditions for talks: Omar Abdullah
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Saturday said both India and Pakistan should create conditions conducive to the resumption of dialogue. Abdullah, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, slammed those saying India should use force to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and asserted that when push comes to shove, the final mile is always crossed through dialogue. «Let me put it this way, you will not get a solution to any problem through just the use of force. Ultimately, when push comes to shove, the final mile is always crossed through dialogue,» Abdullah told PTI in an interview. «That said, creating conditions for dialogue is the responsibility of both sides, not India alone,» he added.

Over a five-week stretch starting 25 January, I saw the same scene play out thrice on the big screen in three different films. First came Fighter, which had a recreation of the attack by a Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber on a Central Reserve Police Force convoy at Pulwama in 2019, in which 40 soldiers were killed.

In response, a larger police force was deployed to rescue the captured cops, leading to the arrest of Khalil, his father Anwar Jat, his brothers, and other family members for attacking the police party. Reports suggest that the soldier and his relatives were subjected to torture while in custody and were not presented before a magistrate for police remand.
