Idli and chicken jalfrezi top list of dishes with highest biodiversity impact: Study
idli, chana masala and rajma featured in the top 20 dishes with the highest biodiversity footprint, along with chicken jalfrezi and chicken chaat, according to a new study analysing 151 popular local dishes from around the world. However, researchers found that dishes with beef as the main ingredient such as fraldinha — beef cut dish originating from Brazil — formed the bulk of the top 20. Chili con carne (spicy stew with chili peppers, beef and beans) and beef tartare were other such dishes. The scientists from National University of Singapore analysed lists of popular dishes taken from CNN.com and TasteAtlas.com to estimate their biodiversity footprints when globally and locally produced. The researchers found that dishes made from ingredients like beef, legumes and rice encroaching on biodiversity hotspots with already very high agricultural pressure such as India end up having a high biodiversity footprint.

Israel's military exports to top buyer India unaffected by Gaza war
Israel's military exports to India, its largest defence buyer, have not been affected by the war in Gaza, an Indian source and an Israeli source aware of the details said. India has imported military hardware worth $2.9 billion from Israel over the last decade, including radars, surveillance and combat drones, and missiles. Israel launched its months-long military campaign after militants from Hamas-ruled Gaza killed 1,200 people and took 253 hostages in southern Israel on Oct. 7. Since then, more than 29,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry.

ED seeks look out circular against Byju Raveendran
ED) has asked the Bureau of Immigration (BOI) to issue a look out circular (LOC) against Byju Raveendran, founder and CEO of the eponymous, embattled edtech company Byju's, people with knowledge of the matter told ET. The central agency approached BOI earlier this month to issue a fresh LOC to ensure that Raveendran does not leave the country. An LOC 'on intimation' has already been issued against Raveendran. It was opened more than one and a half years ago at the request of the ED's Kochi office. However, the investigation was later transferred to the Bengaluru office of the agency. The LOC 'on intimation' results in immigration authorities informing a probe agency about the individual going overseas but the person is not stopped from leaving the country.
