Rio Tinto has loaned $US100 million ($156.9 million) to the Chinese and Singaporean companies that will build railways and ports for Guinea’s Simandou iron ore project, in a major show of faith in its consortium partners, rival miners and the grand plan to build an African iron ore industry.

The Singapore government-owned company wants to sell its stake at a valuation of over $1 billion, another person said. This is far less than the $2 billion valuation that another stakeholder, Walt Disney Co, was eyeing in 2021. «At one point, the Tata Play shareholders were looking at a valuation of close to $3 billion,» this person added. Temasek said it does not comment on market speculation.

Bengaluru: A few months back, American asset manager Blackstone Inc., India’s largest office landlord with about 111 million sq ft of office space under its belt, wanted to sell half the stake it holds in two office portfolios developed by Pune-based builder Panchshil Realty and Bengaluru-based Sattva Group. Blackstone’s talks on the stake sale with GIC Pvt Ltd, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, fell through. In a similar story, again this year, Blackstone wanted to sell part of its stake in Embassy Office Parks REIT.

Cryptonews reported last week that Su Zhu, the co-founder of bankrupt crypto hedge fund Three Arrows Capital (3AC), has been arrested in Singapore. The local police have officially confirmed the arrest, responding to a Reuters query on Thursday.
