Transforming Finance: The Evolution and Power of Social Stock Exchanges
In the landscape of finance, a radical shift is ongoing, it challenges the traditional investment landscape for financial gains. This transformation is vainly guarded by Social Stock Exchanges (SSEs); it prioritizes investing in social and environmental causes along with monetary returns. As the world is facing numerous challenges, climate change, poverty, social injustice, and inequality, SSEs provide an opportunity for investors to align financial objectives with societal development.

Gautam Gambhir backs Hardik Pandya amidst criticism, slams RCB great for remarks against Mumbai Indians captain
IPL 2024 playoffs: ‘SRH won’t qualify’, Harbhajan Singh's picks RCB, CSK; Hyderabad fans react, ‘Lassi ka Nasha’ The decision of appointing Pandya as captain over Rohit Sharma had not gone down with the MI fans who had booed the all-rounder during the initial few matches of the IPL. However, MI's disappointing stint at this year's IPL had also given former cricketers and experts to question his ability as a captain. Former South African batter AB de Villiers had criticized Pandya in a video on his official YouTube channel where he stated that the 30-year-old's captaincy style is ‘ego-driven’ and ‘chest out’.

Solar storms: How deadly can they get?
A violent solar flare has reminded us just what changes in the sun’s surface conditions can do to us. Strong solar storms can bring down power infrastructure, communications and disrupt navigation—facets through which the modern world functions. Mint explains: Most solar flares are violent storms of plasma material on the sun’s surface, creating a strong gust of charged particles, or solar ‘wind’, through space.

Aurora again: Spectacular celestial shows expected shortly as CMEs hit Earth | See pics
Mother's Day auroras? Northern lights show may continue tonight The expulsions of plasma and magnetic fields from the Sun, known as CMEs are expected to reach Earth late Sunday or early Monday, "causing severe or extreme geomagnetic storms once again," said Keith Ryden, who heads the Surrey Space Centre in England to AFP news agency. But scientists said the intensity of anything seen Sunday night might not reach the level of Friday's show. Why do we get auroras on Earth after eruptions occur on Sun? NASA says THIS Friday saw the first "extreme" geomagnetic storm since October 2003 that caused blackouts in Sweden and damaged power infrastructure in South Africa.

First 'extreme' solar storm in 20 years brings spectacular auroras
solar storm in more than two decades struck Earth on Friday, triggering spectacular celestial light shows in skies from Tasmania to Britain — and threatening possible disruptions to satellites and power grids as it persists into the weekend. The first of several coronal mass ejections (CMEs) — expulsions of plasma and magnetic fields from the Sun — came just after 1600 GMT, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)'s Space Weather Prediction Center. It was later upgraded to an «extreme» geomagnetic storm — the first since the so-called "Halloween Storms" of October 2003 caused blackouts in Sweden and damaged power infrastructure in South Africa. More CMEs are expected to pummel the planet in the coming days.

Three dimensions of greatness
Elon Musk imagines a world where cars have no drivers; but he cannot imagine a world without employees in offices as he vociferously argues against work-from-home culture. Judith Butler imagines a world without Zionism, a world where 'they' pronoun is normalised, but not a world where Islam embraces same-sex marriages. Both these people are changing the world in their own way — subverting conventional technology and discourse. These follow the saviour myths of monotheistic mythologies. Understandable when one traces their roots, via South Africa and East Europe. Their imagination makes no room for Jainism, the faith from South Asia of some of the world's most successful mercantile and banking communities, who worked with Buddhist kings, Jain kings, Hindu kings, Muslim kings, British imperialists and even patriotic and nationalistic governments, without ever incurring the wrath of a mob.

The liberal international order is slowly coming apart
As we report, the disintegration of the old order is visible everywhere. Sanctions are used four times as much as they were during the 1990s; America has recently imposed “secondary" penalties on entities that support Russia’s armies. A subsidy war is under way, as countries seek to copy China’s and America’s vast state backing for green manufacturing.
