International Battery Company has committed to investing $1 billion in India's southern Karnataka state to build a factory that will produce lithium-ion cells, the provincial government said Tuesday. NEW DELHI : The government is considering a proposal to allow existing advanced chemistry cell (ACC) battery storage projects to apply for unutilized capacity under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for the sector, two people aware of the matter said. At a 24 July meeting, some industry executives proposed allowing brownfield projects to apply for the capacity not allotted to greenfield projects, according to the people cited above. Currently, only greenfield projects are eligible for the scheme.
