UFO, Aliens? What is it in North Carolina?
space debris has been spotted by a person on a private mountaintop in the west of North Carolina's Asheville, raising curiosity about whether it was part of Unidentified flying object (UFO) or there is extraterrestrial presence. However, space experts have revealed that the debris came from a recent SpaceX mission, as per a Fox Weather report. A crew of four was launched by SpaceX mission to the International Space Station. The device measures a minimum of three feet in width and exhibits distinct scorch marks, suggesting it endured significant heating during its fiery descent through Earth's atmosphere.

Where there is AI, there is data, in every industry
Mint Digital Innovation Summit 2024.Participating in a panel discussion on “How AI, GenAI are powering digital transformation across sectors in India", Roopa Basrur, vice-president of Global Safety Medical Writing at Parexel, a Durham, North Carolina-based biopharmaceutical services company, said workflow automation, robust decision-making, and search and retrieval of data are the areas where AI's impact has been the most in the pharmaceutical industry.Basrur emphasised the use of AI in medical writing as well, which includes using data to determine whether a drug is safe for use or if there are warning signals.“So, we actually have developed an in-house literature review tool that helps to do exactly what you were talking about, that is cutting down the amount of time spent in drug research and drug safety," said Basrur.Moving to an industry that embraced “digital" from the get go, Abhishek Ravi, chief information officer (CIO) at Mumbai-based Indian fantasy sports platform Dream Sports (Dream11), said AI technology was ever-evolving for him and not an overnight wonder.

Drone pilot can't offer mapping without North Carolina surveyor's license, court says
The litigation marked an emerging conflict between technology disrupting the hands-on regulated profession of surveying. A state license requires educational and technical experience, which can include examinations and apprenticeships. Jones sought to expand his drone pilot career by taking composite images that could assist construction companies and others with bird's-eye views of their interested tracts of land.

Tiger Woods to be lone player on negotiating committee with Saudis
Tiger Woods will be the lone player on a five-member subcommittee that will be involved in negotiations with the Public Investment Fund, part of a busy day of governance as the PGA Tour tries to strike a deal with Saudi backers of LIV Golf. Woods was appointed to the PGA Tour board in August, making him the sixth player-director and the only one whose board term has no limits. The tour said Woods will be part of the «transaction subcommittee» on the board of PGA Tour Enterprises that will handle day-to-day negotiations as PIF seeks to become a minority investor. Also on the subcommittee are PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan, board chairman Joe Gorder, John W. Henry of Fenway Sports Group and Joe Ogilvie, a former tour player appointed as a director liaison in March.

Google defends app store, fighting Epic Games' bid for major reforms
Google has asked a U.S. judge not to impose sweeping changes to the Alphabet unit's app store Play that were proposed by «Fortnite» maker Epic Games in the companies' closely-watched antitrust fight. Google made its filing late on Thursday in San Francisco federal court, where Epic last year persuaded a jury that the tech giant unlawfully stifled competition with its controls over apps downloads on Android devices and payments to developers for in-app transactions.

New York City police officers began entering the Columbia University late Tuesday as dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters remained on the campus. Shortly before officers entered the campus, the New York Police Department received a notice from Columbia authorising officers to take action, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press. The official was not authorised to discuss details of the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. After entering the campus, a contingent of police officers approached Hamilton Hall, the administration building that students began occupying in the morning.
