Gaza Diplomacy Cements Qatar’s Global Mediator Role
DOHA, Qatar—Qatar’s diplomacy in the Gaza war, including help in arranging a temporary cease-fire and hostage-release deal that took effect Friday, cements the ultrarich Muslim nation as Washington’s preferred interlocutor with extremist groups and pariah states—in the Middle East and increasingly around the world. It is an improbable role that began to take shape some 30 years ago as the small Persian Gulf monarchy sought to secure itself in the midst of bigger neighbors by resolving regional disputes while winning the trust and gratitude of the U.S. and other Western governments.

Binance CEO resignation shows crypto industry is maturing: Experts
Changpeng Zhao's exit and the $4 billion fine imposed on Binance are significant events that could shape the future of the crypto markets. Meanwhile, industry experts highlighted that Zhao's departure signals a shift towards transparency and regulatory compliance. Manhar Garegrat, Country Head at Liminal, said, «As the largest offshore digital assets exchange, Binance has been at the centre of regulatory scrutiny in the US and other jurisdictions. CZ's stepping down and handing over the CEO position to Richard Teng is a clear indication that Binance is taking these concerns seriously and is committed to working with regulators to establish a more compliant operating model.» «This is a significant event for the global crypto landscape. It is a sign that the industry is maturing and is becoming more accountable to its stakeholders. This is a positive development that will ultimately benefit the industry as a whole. This will further lead to increased transparency, greater regulatory compliance and wider adoption of digital assets,» Manhar said. Following Zhao's news, pressure on major cryptocurrencies increased, resulting in the overall crypto market cap falling below $1.4 trillion on Wednesday. However, on Thursday's trade, the crypto market cap bounced back and surged nearly 3% to $ 1.42 trillion.

Amazon hit by 'Black Friday' strikes in Europe
Amazon was hit by strikes at various locations in Britain, Germany and Italy during the annual «Black Friday» shopping extravaganza as workers demand higher wages and better working conditions. UNI Global Union said Amazon would face strikes and protests in more than 30 countries around the world, including the United States, as part of a "Make Amazon Pay" campaign. «Workers know that it doesn't matter what country you're in or what your job title is. We are all united in the fight for higher wages, an end to unreasonable quotas and a voice on the job,» said Christy Hoffman, general secretary of UNI Global Union. «That's what workers in Coventry are striking for and that is why workers around the world are standing up to Make Amazon Pay,» Hoffman said. Held the day after the US Thanksgiving holiday, «Black Friday» has been increasingly adopted in Europe and beyond, with stores offering big discounts to kick off shopping for the holiday gift-giving season. More than 1,000 workers went on strike at an Amazon hub in Coventry, England, which employs 2,300 people and supplies other warehouses, said Stuart Richards, spokesman for the GMB union. In Germany, the industrial action called by Union Verdi began overnight Thursday, affecting five out of the US e-commerce giant's 20 logistics sites in Europe's biggest economy. Amazon said the strikes in the UK and Germany would have no impact on customers. Workers at the Amazon hub in Castel San Giovanni, between Piacenza and Milan, joined the strike.

Can't accept Hindenburg's Adani claims as ipso facto correct, no reason to doubt Sebi probe, says Supreme Court
Supreme Court on Friday said it could not accept shortseller Hindenburg Research's allegations of fraud, misgovernance and stock price manipulation by the Adani Group as the «ipso facto true state of affairs,» and that's why it had asked the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) to inquire into the matter. An apex court bench rallied behind the regulator, saying it found no material to doubt the Sebi investigation or the impartiality of the expert committee headed by former Supreme Court judge Abhay Manohar Sapre. The panel had been appointed by the top court on March 2 to examine regulatory mechanisms to protect investor interests, following the January report by the US-based shortseller that sent Adani stocks tumbling. The bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra — while reserving judgment on petitions related to the matter — said the court could not proceed on the assumption that the Hindenburg report was true.
