Trump urges Congress to pass bill 'banning and criminalising sex changes on children'
In his address to the joint session of Congress on Tuesday (local time), Trump said, «I want Congress to pass a bill permanently banning and criminalizing sex changes on children and forever ending the lie that any child is trapped in the wrong body. This is a big lie and our message to every child in America is that you are perfect exactly the way God made you. Because we are getting wokeness out of our schools and out of our military and it's already out and it's out of our society. We don't want it. Wokeness is trouble. Wokeness is bad. Its gone and we feel so much better for it, don't we. Don't we feel better? Our service members won't be activists and ideologues. They will be fighters and warriors. They will fight for our country.» The US President also urged Congress to fund a state-of-the-art golden dome missile defence shield. He called it important to have golden dome missile defence shield and mentioned that Israel and other nations have it.

A 'superstitious' Trump didn't want you to think he was joking about tariffs on US allies, including India

The tariffs, he said, are a response to what he considers unfair trade practices by countries like Canada, Mexico, China, the European Union, and India. This move is part of Trump’s broader agenda to reshape U.S. trade policies and create a more balanced global trading environment.

Rajeev Agrawal on tariff uncertainty and its impact on global market
«Still, it remains to be seen if that is what it is or this is actually a new world where we basically have everybody having a tariff barrier and the free trade that we have all grown up with becomes less and less,» says Rajeev Agrawal, DoorDarshi India Fund. I guess all of us are hooked on to Trump's address, waiting to hear if he is going to say anything specific on Canada and Mexico tariffs or not. But how do you think this entire tariff tirade is going to really play out because the chatter in the US as well is tariffs are not good for them either. Rajeev Agrawal: So, no, absolutely, tariffs have created a lot of uncertainty in the whole world and how they will play out. Initially, the expectation was that tariffs is a way for negotiation to ensure that US companies get their fair share when they go into other countries.

Trade no longer driving growth as in past, IMF’s Georgieva says
International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. Many nations are facing weaker growth prospects and are saddled with high debt while supply chains have come under pressure due to the Covid-19 pandemic and geopolitical developments, Georgieva said remotely from the US at an IMF event in Tokyo. “We also know trade is no longer the engine of global growth it used to be,” she said. “The new US administration is rapidly reshaping its policies on trade, taxation, public spending, deregulation and digital assets, and other governments are also recalibrating their approaches and adjusting their policies.”

Nifty panics, but India VIX stays calm: Why is D-St fear gauge not reacting anymore?
Nifty50 is down about 7% in 2025 and one would assume that this period was marked by volatility. However, it is not reflected in the India VIX. The fear gauge index, as it is often referred to, fell nearly 6% year-to-date and is hovering 13.83 levels despite a sell-off in the Indian markets. India VIX has an inverse correlation with the markets as the index jumps when equities are falling. This is because a correction is often associated with a sense of panic and fear among investors and is not playing out the way it did historically.
