Donald Trump, Inflation, Economic uncertainty - Why are US Fed policymakers worried?
inflation as their comments echo Fed chief Jerome Powell's call for caution. The US Fed policymakers, fresh from an interest rate cut this week, fleshed out on Friday the case for reducing borrowing costs more slowly next year as they assess progress in lowering inflation and the impact of tariffs and other policies promised by President-elect Donald Trump, Reuters reported. San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly, who supported the U.S. central bank's decision on Wednesday to cut its benchmark overnight rate by a quarter of a percentage point to the 4.25 per cent-4.50 per cent range, and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack, who dissented against it, both said the meeting's outcome was a «close call.» Daly and two other Fed policymakers who spoke on Friday said they felt the central bank would likely resume its rate-cutting next year, but signaled they would take their time doing so now that, as Daly put it, the «recalibration phase» is over, as per Reuters report. «We're in the next phase, and that next phase is really looking at the incoming information,» Daly said in an interview with Bloomberg Television.

New list of over the counter drugs soon
«We have held many meetings and looking at what best can be done,» said Dr Anupam Prakash, chairman of the OTC sub-committee. Unlike other countries like the US, UK or China, India does not have a policy framework to support and regulate distribution, marketing and consumption of OTC drugs. This is despite the fact that commonly used medicines for cough and cold as well as contraceptives are sold over the counter. Neither the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 nor the Drugs & Cosmetics Rules, 1945 (D&C) defines OTC medicines.

US Congress scrambles to try to avert looming shutdown after Donald Trump demand rejected
US Congress was scrambling to avert a partial government shutdown on Friday, hours after more than three dozen Republicans rejected a demand by President-elect Donald Trump to use the measure to lift the nation's debt ceiling. Republican House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson was trying to plot a course that could pass both his chamber, with narrow Republican control, and the Democratic-majority Senate, as a midnight Friday (0500 GMT Saturday) funding deadline loomed. «We have a plan,» Johnson told reporters at the Capitol on Friday. «We're expecting votes this morning.»

Permanent alimony of Rs 500 crore sought by wife from US based husband; SC grants Rs 12 crore and warns against misuse of 498A
alimony case, domestic violence and divorce petition, all of them. The wife even filed an FIR against his 85-year-old father, his son from first marriage, his aunt's son, his relatives and his ex-wife who lives in the USA. There was also a twist in this case as the lawyer representing the wife said she wanted to get back with him. However, the husband declined this offer and sought divorce on the ground of cruelty. Moreover, the husband filed a police complaint against his wife claiming that she threatened him with dire consequences like taking her own life and filing false criminal cases against him and his family. The primary reason behind the long police, family court, supreme court proceedings was demand for more alimony by wife after taking Rs 12 lakh from her husband during the course of their married life. This was despite his wife having Rs 1.05 crore worth of bank FDs, cash, etc. His wife argued that he had both the means and ability to provide more alimony. She also claimed that her husband had Rs 5,000 crore worth of assets, a USA based business and multiple house properties in Pune, Bhopal and in other cities. While the husband was ready to offer Rs 20 to 40 lakh as permanent alimony, his wife demanded at least Rs 500 crore and one of the properties owned by the husband's 85-year-old father.

Elon Musk running the US government? Here's why Democrats are referring to Tesla CEO as 'President'
Elon Musk running the US government? Tesla CEO's growing influence on the Republican Party and the Trump administration has become a topic of discussion among Democrats, some of whom now sarcastically refer to the SpaceX CEO as “President Musk.” As the threat of US government shutdown looms, Musk, one of the closest allies and a big supporter of President-elect Donald Trump, interjected himself into the process. The moniker 'President Musk' started trending on X, formerly known as Twitter, after the spending fight on Capitol Hill took an unexpected turn as the billionaire entrepreneur played a pivotal role in derailing a bipartisan funding bill, raising questions about his growing influence in Washington. Musk’s barrage of posts on X calling for lawmakers to «kill the bill» has led many to wonder whether he, not Donald Trump, is setting the Republican agenda.
