Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, one of the leading automakers in the country, has received the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Platinum certification in the Indian Automotive Industry in the owner-occupied category.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the electric vehicle car and battery manufacturing facility of VinFast Auto Ltd, which has earmarked investments of Rs 16,000 crore for the state, just 50 days after signing an MoU with the Vietnam-based EV maker. The memorandum of understanding with the Government of Tamil Nadu for the plant was signed during the Global Investors Meet held by the DMK government in January. The quick turnaround time from signing to the MoU to laying the foundation stone — 50 days — is an example of Tamil Nadu's industry-friendly climate and showcases the government's commitment to quick clearance of approvals. «In just 50 days since the MoU (was signed) Thoothukudi welcomes VinFast's first EV plant — a monumental stride for the Dravidian Model Economy,» Stalin said. «With Rs 16,000 crore investments and 10,000 plus jobs on the horizon, we are charging ahead into a future where opportunity and innovation meet,» he said in a release.

Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan on Friday said India is looking at dealing with long-term challenges that may emanate from China besides focusing on the current situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). He made the remarks at the Raisina Dialogue. The Chief of Defence Staff, especially spoke about bridging any technological deficiencies. "(We are looking at) not only what is happening along the northern borders, but also long-term challenges so that we do not have a technological kind of a deficiency," he said.

Airbus said Thursday that Vietnamese airline Vietjet Air has agreed to buy 20 of its A330-900 planes. Vietjet signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus for the wide-body aircraft, which will replace its current fleet of leased A330-300 planes, Airbus said in a statement. "We are excited to work with Vietjet on the next phase of the carrier's expansion," said Christian Scherer, chief executive of Airbus's commercial aircraft business.

import duty on rubber as of now as the differential between the local and international prices is maintained, a senior official said on Monday. «We have a differential already maintained for the imports that we are getting vis-a-vis the local production. »If you see the local price vis-a-vis international price...so there has been a differential maintained on account of that import duty… So I do not think there is any rethink on reducing import duties as of now," Additional Secretary in the commerce ministry Amardeep Singh Bhatia told reporters here. He was replying to a question about the domestic user industry's demand to cut the duties and that of local producers against any duty reduction.
