information
Trump has put an end to an era. The future is up for grabs.
Kamala Harris lost the presidential election, but one of her campaign slogans was vindicated in defeat. «We're not going back!» the Democratic nominee insisted on the campaign trail, and she was unintentionally correct: Donald Trump's return to power is proof that we have lived through a real turning point in history, an irrevocable shift from one era to the next. In Trump's first term, he did not look like a historically transformative president. His victory was narrow. He lacked real majority support. He was swiftly unpopular and stymied and harassed. Even if his 2016 upset proved that discontent with the official consensus of the Western world ran unexpectedly deep, the way he governed made it easy to regard his presidency as accidental and aberrant — a break from a «normal» world of politics that some set of authority figures could successfully reimpose.

Trump's pro-Israel cabinet picks upset Muslims who voted for him
Donald Trump to protest against the Biden administration's support for Israel's war on Gaza and attacks on Lebanon have been deeply disappointed by his cabinet picks, they tell Reuters. «Trump won because of us and we're not happy with his secretary of state pick and others,» said Rabiul Chowdhury, a Philadelphia investor who chaired the Abandon Harris campaign in Pennsylvania and co-founded Muslims for Trump. Muslim support for Trump helped him win Michigan and may have factored into other swing state wins, strategists believe.

With Trump's return, China's Xi at APEC criticises protectionism
Donald Trump's imminent return to the US presidency looming over the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Lima, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Friday that unilateralism and protectionism needed to be rejected in favour of economic globalisation. Xi's critique of protectionism at APEC offers a preview of how China will seek to position itself once Trump takes office in January. Trump has pledged to impose tariffs on Chinese imports in excess of 60% but Beijing and Chinese companies are hoping that his protectionist policies will also irk US allies in Europe and Asia — giving China an opening to increase its global influence and improve trade ties. In a speech read out to business executives by Chinese commerce minister Wang Wentao on Friday at the APEC CEO Summit, Xi said that economic globalisation was facing «countercurrents», without specifying any particular country or leader.

Kamala Harris pushes donors for more after raising US$1B+ in electoral defeat
Democratic Party’s prodigious fundraising operation raised more than $1 billion in her loss to Donald Trump, but the vice president is still pushing donors for more money after the election.Democrats are sending persistent appeals to Harris supporters without expressly asking them to cover any potential debts, enticing would-be donors instead with other matters: the Republican president-elect’s picks for his upcoming administration and a handful of pending congressional contests where ballots are still being tallied.“The Harris campaign certainly spent more than they raised and is now busy trying to fundraise,” said Adrian Hemond, a Democratic strategist from Michigan. He said he was been asked by the campaign after its loss to Trump to help with fundraising. The party is flooding Harris’ lucrative email donor list with near-daily appeals aimed at small-dollar donors — those whose contributions are measured in the hundreds of dollars or less.

What will Elon Musk do in the new department DOGE? Trump wants overhaul; here's what could be on the chopping block
US President- elect Donald Trump has recently announced about the creation of a new initiative known as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) which will be led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. According to CNN, the ultimate goal of DOGE is to streamline federal operations and cut significant government spending by at least $2 trillion which is a target that various budget experts have deemed unrealistic. At the same time Elon Musk has eventually acknowledged that achieving these savings might cause ‘temporary hardship’ but insisted that it will lead to a heavy long-term prosperity, reported CNN. On the other hand, while Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will provide recommendations to the White House, they actually lack direct authority to make spending cuts or regulatory changes. Why Kamala Harris, who raised $1 billion-plus in Presidential campaign, is still asking for money from donors after defeat
Kamala Harris is still actively pursuing donations from supporters—pushing for more funding in the wake of her loss to Donald Trump. Following a high-cost campaign effort, the Harris team has turned to its extensive donor list, sending frequent appeals to both small-dollar contributors and larger donors in a bid to cover lingering campaign expenses. Democrats have been flooding Harris’ email list with near-daily fundraising requests, though they do not explicitly mention covering any campaign debts. Instead, the emails emphasize other political battles, including President-elect Trump’s picks for his upcoming administration and several tight congressional races still being decided.

Bitcoin soars to record $93,400 on Trump euphoria and Fed rate cut bets
Bitcoin surged to a record high above $93,400, driven by market optimism over President-elect Donald Trump's pro-crypto stance and expectations of further interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve. The rally was fuelled by data showing US consumer inflation rose to 2.6% in October, up from 2.4% in September, aligning with market expectations and strengthening the case for a potential 25-basis-point rate cut next month, with market odds rising from 59% to 83%.
