Trump's low-tax, high-tariff strategy could clash with economic realities
Donald Trump makes his closing economic argument before the election, he is outlining a vision for a manufacturing renaissance that reprises a familiar pitch: Make goods in America and enjoy low taxes, or face punishing tariffs. Trump's pitch combines the type of carrots-and-sharp-sticks approach that he called «America First» during his first term, when he imposed stiff tariffs on allies and competitors while lowering taxes on American firms. During a speech in Savannah, Georgia, on Tuesday, Trump suggested he would go far beyond that initial approach and adopt what he rebranded a «new American industrialism.»

Why the Election Is Coming Down to Defining Kamala Harris
2024 presidential election looks as though it's coming down to which campaign can successfully define Kamala Harris; look no further than the ads you see on TV in battleground states. This may also explain why polls in battleground states can paint a very different picture of the race from that of national polls. In the past several days, we've had a flurry of national polls with mostly good news for the Harris campaign, only to be followed by Monday's release of New York Times/Siena College polls of three Sun Belt battleground states — Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina — that presented a much more favorable view of the race for Donald Trump. I've been on the road recently in the Phoenix area and took a moment to catch Sunday's game between the Detroit Lions and the Arizona Cardinals on TV. Arizona voters are seeing their airwaves blanketed by political ads, and I was struck by the difference in approach from the Trump and Harris teams. Spots aired by Mr. Trump and his allies were largely negative ads about Ms. Harris, highlighting, in particular, her past position supporting the provision of gender transition surgery to incarcerated people. Meanwhile, ads from the Harris camp varied: While some hit Mr. Trump, particularly on the issue of abortion, more than a few were also purely positive ads, including highlighting her comment, during their debate, about her time as a prosecutor who «never asked a victim or a witness, 'Are you a Republican or a Democrat?'»

US consumer confidence unexpectedly falls in September
US consumer confidence unexpectedly dropped in September on labor market concerns, according to survey data published Tuesday, signaling dampening optimism about the economy as November's presidential election approaches. That could prove challenging for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris given the economy remains a top issue for voters ahead of the election, in which she is running against Republican former president Donald Trump. The Conference Board's consumer confidence index fell sharply to 98.7 in September, down from a revised 105.6 last month.

Donald Trump sells $100 coins, but the silver is only worth $30. The former president revealed on Saturday that he is selling ‘Trump Coins’ featuring his likeness to supporters for $100 each. The beautiful, limited-edition coin commemorates their movement, our fight for freedom, prosperity, and putting America first. Trump's face is on the coin's front. As US President, Trump plans to offer foreign companies new incentives, with a warning
Donald Trump will pledge to personally recruit foreign companies and outline new incentives — including an offer of federal land — designed to lure operations to the US during an economic address on Tuesday in Savannah, Georgia. The Republican presidential nominee will outline a carrot-and-stick approach, according to a senior Trump adviser who requested anonymity to detail the proposal, luring those who sell into the US with a more favorable business climate while also threatening harsh tariffs on imports. The speech is the latest effort by Trump to cast himself as the best steward of the economy, seeking to seize on a top issue for voters with less than 50 days before the election. Trump’s Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, is expected to outline her own economic vision during a campaign appearance in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

Justice Dept & FBI 'mishandling' recent assassination attempt case, alleges Donald Trump
Trump has accused the Department of Justice and the FBI of «mishandling and downplaying» the recent apparent assassination attempt on his life, demanding that the state of Florida handle the case. A second bid in two months on 78-year-old Trump's life took place on September 15 at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old owner of a small construction company in Hawaii, was detained in connection with the incident. «The Kamala Harris/Joe Biden Department of Justice and FBI are mishandling and downplaying the second assassination attempt on my life since July,» Trump said in a statement on Monday. «The charges brought against the maniac assassin are a slap on the wrist. It's no wonder since the DOJ and FBI have been coming after me nonstop with Weaponised Lawfare since I announced my first Historic Campaign for the Presidency,» he said.
