India, Brazil, other emerging nations face higher risk of US reciprocal tariffs
Emerging economies such as India, Brazil and Vietnam, which impose tariff on American imports higher than what the US levies on them, face a high risk of reciprocal tariffs, global ratings agency Fitch said. “Brazil, India, Thailand, Malaysia, South Africa, Turkey and, on a simple average tariff basis, Vietnam and Indonesia, impose notably higher tariffs on exports from the US relative to tariffs imposed by the US on imports from these countries,” it said. US President Donald Trump has threatened with his reciprocal tariffs announcement on April 2 against trading partners he says have been “ripping off” the country by imposing high levies. As per the Fitch report, the tariffs in these economies were higher, both on a simple and trade-weighted average basis. “On a simple average basis, the highest differentials are in Brazil, India and Turkey,” Fitch said.

Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as a part of a sweeping restructuring. Going by the White House estimates, the move — along with voluntary resignations — will shrink the department's workforce of 80,000 to about 60,000. Moreover, the HHS is also consolidating its 28 agency divisions into 15 new sections, including a new Administration for a Healthy America, to help carry out Kennedy's Make America Healthy Again agenda. «We aren't just reducing bureaucratic sprawl,» said Kennedy. «We are realigning the organization with its core mission and our new priorities in reversing the chronic disease epidemic.» ALSO READ: US health department to cut 10,000 jobs as Robert F. A team of US officials, headed by Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia Brendan Lynch, is here for negotiations on the proposed agreement. «Early stage of discussions are going on,» one of the sources said, adding that nothing has been finalised so far. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday said the ongoing talks between India and the US for the proposed pact are progressing «well» and will be for the «good» of both nations while protecting India's interests. Donald Trump’s economic approval hits rock bottom as Americans' confidence in his policies takes a major hit
The downturn follows Trump’s announcement of a 25 per cent tariff on foreign vehicles, set to take effect April 2. Critics argue these policies risk inflating consumer prices and destabilizing global markets. Multiple polls, including CNN and Economist/YouGov, echo Gallup’s findings, with disapproval rates outpacing approval by double digits.

Melania Trump to be deported? Elon Musk's stern warning to Congresswoman over her shocking calls
Maxine Waters suggested that US President Donald Trump consider deporting his wife, Melania Trump, while criticizing his administration's immigration policies. Waters went after the First Lady of the United States at a Los Angeles rally protesting DOGE cuts, where she referenced Trump's executive order attempting to end birthright citizenship, which confers citizenship status on people born here. Trump has vowed to remove millions of migrants without legal status from the United States as part of his mass deportation program. «If he wants to start looking so closely to find those who were born here and their parents were undocumented, maybe he ought to first look at Melania,' she said, personalizing the political attack. When he [Trump] talks about birthright, and he's going to undo the fact that the Constitution allows those who are born here, even if the parents are undocumented, they have a right to stay in America,» she said at the rally. ALSO READ: 'I am almost done...': Elon Musk to step down from DOGE and quit Washington DC after $1 trillion in US govt cuts «We don't know whether or not her parents were documented. And maybe we better just take a look,» said Waters, who was among the first House Democrats calling to impeach Trump during his first term.

Trump's global shakeup is complicating life for Canada's $2-trillion pension giants

'I am almost done...': Elon Musk reveals date he'll 'ditch Trump' and quit Washington DC after DOGE purge
Elon Musk has revealed the date he plans to 'ditch US President Donald Trump' and leave Washington DC after his DOGE purge of Federal departments. The Tesla CEO sat down with key members of his DOGE team to discuss the work his team has carried out for the first few months of Trump's administration. Elon Musk plans to step down from his cost-cutting role in the Trump administration at the end of May after reducing the US deficit by $1 trillion, the tech billionaire said on Thursday, according to The Fox News. Musk, 54, expressed confidence in getting close to that goal, which would halve the annual federal deficit, in just 130 days — saying his team was averaging “$4 billion a day, every day, seven days a week.” ALSO READ: Myanmar earthquake: Emergency declared in Bangkok; Thailand's stock exchange suspends trading
