US health dept 10,000 job cuts: When will mass layoffs begin and which depts will be the hardest hit?
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as a part of a sweeping restructuring. Going by the White House estimates, the move — along with voluntary resignations — will shrink the department's workforce of 80,000 to about 60,000.
Moreover, the HHS is also consolidating its 28 agency divisions into 15 new sections, including a new Administration for a Healthy America, to help carry out Kennedy's Make America Healthy Again agenda. «We aren't just reducing bureaucratic sprawl,» said Kennedy. «We are realigning the organization with its core mission and our new priorities in reversing the chronic disease epidemic.»

Thousands of federal workers are bracing for job cuts Friday as Robert F. Kennedy plans to dismantle the 'sprawling' federal agency responsible for protecting America's health, reports NBC News. HHS oversees 13 agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health. Overall, the cuts will shrink the health department’s workforce from 82,000 to 62,000 when combined with its earlier layoffs, Andrew Nixon, a senior spokesperson for HHS, said Thursday.
“No matter what happens, this is going to be a bad day," a CDC official told NBC News, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media. «It feels like we’re participating in the 'Hunger Games' reaping.” In a statement, HHS said the cuts would save taxpayers an estimated $1.8b (£1.38b) per year.

We’ve already started this transition, and we plan to do more of it this fiscal.”Beyond mobile phones and laptops, EMS firms are expanding into smart metres for electricity boards, aerospace and defence subsystems, railway safety instrumentation, printed circuit boards and display assemblies, and medical devices deployed in hospitals.India’s annual mobile phone shipments have remained subdued since the covid-19 pandemic, with industry estimates pointing to a single-digit decline this calendar year from 152 million smartphones shipped last year.The margin pressure driving this shift is increasingly visible.In FY26, Syrma SGS reported an operating margin of 7.1%, up 2.3 percentage points.
