NEW DELHI: Union minister Jitendra Singh on Saturday said, BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) should continue to hold global significance for being the most populated marketplace, driven by the knowledge, creativity and innovation economy. ₹2.41 trillion in pensions to more than 65.74 lakh beneficiaries, including 20.93 lakh family pensioners in fiscal year 2022-23, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said in a written reply in Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Pensions were disbursed via the Central Pension Accounting Office for civil pensioners, Office of Controller General of Defence Accounts for defence pensioners, Department of Telecommunications for telecom pensioners, Railway Board for railway pensioners, and Department of Posts pensioners. An estimated 7,80,509 pensioners and 3,61,476 family pensioners received a total of ₹40,811.28 crore.

New Delhi: Union minister Jitendra Singh on Thursday said that the government is exploring the potential of bus roof mounted air purification systems (BRMAPS) to capture particulate matter in the highly polluted cities. In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, the minister said, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), a statutory body under the ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MoEFCC) has installed pariyayantra filtration units on top of 30 buses to filter dust in Delhi-NCR.

New Delhi: Union minister Jitendra Singh on Thursday said that the UPSC has allowed candidates who had opted for Imphal as a centre for exam, to change and appear in any of the centres, viz., Aizawl, Delhi, Dispur, Jorhat, Kohima, Kolkata and Shillong. In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, the minister said, India has enacted Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage (CLND) Act 2010 to provide for civil liability for nuclear damage and prompt compensation to the victims of a nuclear incident through a no-fault liability regime channelling liability to the operator.

Monsoon session on Wednesday, several MPs from opposition parties have given notices in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, seeking a discussion on the Manipur issue, which has been a key reason for the continuous logjam in both Houses since the session commenced. In Lok Sabha, Congress MP Manickam Tagore has moved Adjournment Motion Notice demanding a discussion on the Manipur situation. Opposition Rajya Sabha MPs Tiruchi Siva of DMK and RJD's Manoj Jha have moved Suspension of Business Notices under Rule 267 with the latter requesting the Upper House Chairman to suspend all other business, listed for the day including the Zero Hour as well as Question Hour and discuss the situation of the violence-hit state. Congress' Ranjeet Ranjan, Rajeev Shukla, and Aam Aadmi Party's Raghav Chadha have also proposed a similar notice in the matter. The Opposition's alliance-- Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance-- is planning to bring a no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha today, the Leader of the Opposition in Lower House Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said.

Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft is expected to perform its fifth and final Earth-bound orbit-raising maneuver today, positioning itself for lunar insertion. It will then transfer to an Earth-to-Moon trajectory, with the Moon's gravity eventually pulling it into lunar orbit. Speaking about the mission, space minister Jitendra Singh said on Monday, “Chandrayaan-3 will enter the next (Earth) orbit tomorrow.

Chandrayaan-3 successfully land on Moon, Union Minister Jitendra Singh shared an important update on the landing of the ‘moon craft’.  Singh told reporters that the Chandrayaan-3 has completed manoeuvring the fourth orbit and has gone one step closer to the Moon. He further added that the Chandrayaan-3 is slated to land on the moon on 23 August.  Explaining the travel path of Chandrayaan-3, union minister Jitendra Singh said that the lunar exploration moon craft will revolve around the Earth and move on entering the orbit of the Moon, closing in with every complete journey around the Moon.  Jitendra Singh said that the Chandrayaan-3 is likely to enter the Moon's orbit by the ‘first week of August’.  "By 23 August the Chandrayaan-3 will land on the South Pole of the Moon", Singh added.  The next firing of Chandrayaan-3 is planned for 25 July between 2 pm and 3 pm, the national space agency headquartered here said.

Addressing the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance Summit, the minister said that the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) had made history in November last year by launching successfully India’s maiden private Vikram-suborbital (VKS) rocket.
