National Advisory Council was no power centre, advocated people's rights: Sonia Gandhi
National Advisory Council (NAC) was 'uncharitably caricatured' as a 'separate power centre' when it functioned purely as an 'advisory body to the Prime Minister', the former Congress President Sonia Gandhi has said in an essay in an upcoming book. She adds that this was ironic given that NDA has openly been taking directions from the 'unelected and unaccountable' RSS. «It is extremely ironic that the NAC was vilified, when the current National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has routinely deposed before, and taken direction on policy and legislation from the unelected and unaccountable Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), most visibly in September 2015 when Union ministers gave detailed presentations explaining their policies, and south their 'marg darshan' (guidance), as Prime Minister Narendra Modi put it», Gandhi writes in her essay titled- Enhancing People's Rights and Freedoms- The NAC revisited. She also holds forth that the NAC's role was limited to submitting recommendations to the PM and the final decision was left to the discretion of the Union government.

Maharashtra govt’s new policy to boost ‘Housing for All’, investments, says Housing Minister Save
Maharashtra has been planning to effect necessary requisites in the state's new housing policy to make 'Housing for All' a reality and to ensure that every citizen gets their own house either through housing body MHADA or slum rehabilitation projects or through other developments, said Housing Minister Atul Save. In order to boost affordable housing, the government will also find ways to push new investments in the state's housing sector, he said while speaking at a NAREDCO Maharashtra conference. The minister added that the state government's focus is to ensure a maximum flow of housing in Mumbai and the state and provide all the possible support to the real estate sector and bring in new investments. “As the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisaged under the PM Awaas Yojana to ensure 'Housing for All', the State Government believes that every citizen of Maharashtra should get his own house through the MHADA or SRA schemes or otherwise… The real estate and construction sector should get a required priority,” he said. Several issues pending in the state's housing sector will be resolved in the new housing policy and 80% draft work of the new policy has been completed and suggestions of the new stakeholders would be considered before finalizing the same. Other departments like home, urban development, revenue, and slum rehabilitation authority (SRA) have also been involved in the policy making, Save added. «More than 50% of the population in the city still lives in slums and about 20% to 30% of slums are to be redeveloped.

PM Modi garba video not deepfake, just fake news, confirms his doppelganger
Prime Minister Narendra Modi participating in a garba dance. The authenticity of the video was initially questioned, with speculation that it might be a deepfake. Prime Minister Modi himself acknowledged the video, expressing doubts about its authenticity. However, it has now been clarified that the video was not a result of deepfake technology but rather a case of mistaken identity and false reporting. The individual in the video is Vikas Mahante, a Mumbai-based businessman and the proprietor of a steel packaging business in Malad. Mahante unintentionally found himself thrust into the limelight due to his resemblance to Prime Minister Modi. His uncanny similarity led to an invitation to London to partake in pre-Diwali festivities within the admirer's family circle. It was during this event that Mahante was mistakenly identified as Modi and filmed participating in the garba dance, causing a significant stir.
