Mamata Banerjee said on Thursday that she will go to New Delhi demanding funds for MGNREGA and other central schemes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in mid December during Parliament's winter session. She also warned of staging dharna in New Delhi if denied permission to meet the Prime Minister.
Banerjee stated that she aims to meet the Prime Minister with her MPs.
«We will go to the national capital in the second or third week of December during Parliament’s winter session. I will seek time from the Prime Minister.
If he does not give me time, we will hit the roads with dharna. There are only three months left for the Lok Sabha polls and you must give us money for rural roads, MNREGA and other central schemes, » Banerjee said while addressing her party’s mega strategy meeting in Kolkata today.
Giving a clarion call «BJP hatao desh banchao» ahead of Lok Sabha polls once again, Banerjee said, “Poor people have worked in MGNREGA schemes but they have not received their dues money…In three months’ time, Lok Sabha election will be declared and they will be ousted from power.”
«They have not cleared the dues in rural roads, MGNREGA, PM Awas Yojana but before Lok Sabha polls tall promises will be made to women and farmers...»
Lashing out at the Centre, Banerjee said, “In Bengal farmers don't get fertilizers...petrol and diesel prices are skyrocketing.
There is ĢST on everything. The demonstration has wreaked havoc on the economy and the Central government is selling PSUs, Railways and banks.”
Banerjee also claimed that the BJP-led government wants to do away with reservations. “BJP is also against the reservation for minorities, but we have brought them under the system through OBC quota," she stated.
