India is finally becoming a clean energy superpower
For several years, the country has fallen well short of the rosy visions proclaimed by its leaders. India should become the first major economy to industrialize without carbonizing, to paraphrase its Group of 20 sherpa Amitabh Kant. Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to connect 500 gigawatts of clean energy by 2030, equivalent to all the generators in France, Germany and Italy put together. The picture on the ground has, until recently, been very different. A previous aspiration to hit 175 GW by 2022 came in 40% below target, and had to be fudged to avoid embarrassment. Ill-advised tariffs on solar panels, combined with contractual and political support for fossil fuels and constant changes to the rules of renewable power auctions, made matters worse.

India consistently advocated for peaceful resolution to disputes: Rajnath Singh on Indo-Pacific
India has consistently advocated for a peaceful resolution to disputes and has sought to promote cooperation among nations in the Indo-Pacific, with a strong emphasis on the centrality of ASEAN, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Friday. His remarks come amid China's increasing military muscle-flexing in the region. In his address at the Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue (IPRD) 2024 here, he also expressed concern over «certain attempts to monopolise and weaponise critical resources for strategic reasons», terming these tendencies as not conducive for the global good. Singh emphasised that India's engagement with its partners is guided by the understanding that true progress can only be achieved through collective action and synergy, and due to these efforts, it is now considered as a «credible and preferred security partner and first responder» in the region.

Congress' only strategy is don't work and not let others work: PM Modi
Narendra Modi charged the Congress with focusing its politics solely on false promises and hoping that since it has been out of power for a decade in the state the voters will serve power to it on a platter. He reiterated his allegation that Congress is a divided house in the state and the father-son Hooda duo is depriving the Dalits and backwards of their rights. «Congress has only one formula — to not work and not allow others to work. Congress politics is confined to making false promises whereas BJP politics is based on hard work and delivering results… We focus on outcomes but Congress does not do any work. Congress feels that since a decade has passed, people of Haryana will serve power to them on a platter. It had the same misconception in Madhya Pradesh where the party started celebrating even before the results came out,» Modi said at a rally in Palwal. In neighbouring Rajasthan too, Congress had made serious attempts to instigate farmers and youth against the BJP but these plans fell flat, he added.

India communicating between Russia and Ukraine: Jaishankar
The minister was asked about India's role in dealing with Russia and Ukraine. «Our public position is that we do not believe that differences or disputes between countries can be settled by war. A second public position is we do not believe that we are actually from the battlefield going to get a decisive outcome. Three is if you're not going to get a decisive outcome, at some point, in some form, there has to be a negotiation.

Congress used all its energy to establish its own family: PM Modi at Palwal rally
Haryana Assembly Polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday continued his consistent attacks against the Congress over SC, ST, OBC reservation, violence against Dalits, the Ayodhya Ram Temple, Jammu and Kashmir, MSP on crops, and more. The Bharatiya Janata Party leader was addressing a rally in Haryana's Palwal. «Congress kept every issue important for the country entangled… Congress did not allow Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya. Congress did not allow the Constitution to be fully implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. They deprived our sisters of reservation in Parliament and Assembly. Congress kept our Muslim sisters entangled in the problem of triple talaq. Congress did not solve the problems of the country and its citizens but instead used all its energy to establish its own family,» PM Modi said at the election campaign. «Today the whole of Haryana has to take a pledge – all those who love India will remain united, we are one and we will vote unitedly for the country. We will unite and vote for the future of our children. We will unite and vote for the safety of our daughters. We will unite and vote for jobs without any expense slips. We will unite and vote for new investments, and new jobs in Haryana. We will unite and vote for good roads and better irrigation,» he added.
