Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that Pakistan has asked the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a seven-billion-dollar bailout package, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given more than this for the PF package for J&K. «Pakistan is requesting the IMF for a USD 7 billion bailout package. Bangladesh's Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain on Saturday said that Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will not be meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, according to media reports. Hossain, former foreign secretary of Bangladesh, said he would hold a bilateral meeting with India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to advance the relationship between the two neighbours, The Daily Star newspaper reported. At a press briefing at the foreign ministry in the afternoon, Hossain said, «Sorting out all issues, we want to further advance our relationship based on mutual respect and fairness.»

Nara Lokesh on Saturday said that creating 20 lakh jobs is the single agenda of the TDP-led NDA government in the state, which was given a massive mandate of 93 per cent seats in the 2024 elections. Addressing a special plenary session of the CII Southern Regional Council 2024-25 here, he highlighted that creating 20 lakh jobs in five years was one of the six primary promises NDA made in the run-up to the polls. «That is the single agenda (20 lakh jobs) with which your government is going to actually work here in the state of Andhra Pradesh,» said Lokesh, adding that the southern state aspires to become one of the first three states to achieve a GSDP of $1 trillion. Observing that CII has always played a collaborative role, he said that Andhra Pradesh, which has been a hub for agriculture, MSMEs and other sectors, now aims to move faster in Information Technology.

KLW Wheelco has supplied 2,000 Ukrainian-make forged wheels to the Indian Railways in the past few weeks, said a senior Indian government official. This is the first such delivery from the war-torn nation since the Russia-Ukraine conflict started in early 2022. Orders for 10,000 forged wheels worth ₹72 crore have been placed with the Swiss company earlier this year,» the official told ET. These wheels are being manufactured in Dnipro (Ukraine) by Interpipe Group, a global producer of steel pipes and railway wheels. The wheels are for Bogie Open Wagon with Air Brakes (BOXN wagons), which are largely used for carrying goods such as coal, and are being loaded from an Ukrainian port in the Black Sea.

Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) is set to inaugurate the city's first underground metro line Phase I of the Metro 3 corridor, covering the Aarey-Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) stretch, in the first week of October. The project, which has cost approximately RS 38,000 crore, aims to facilitate easier long-distance travel for commuters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the 12km stretch, which includes 10 stations.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari Thursday warned Pakistan against interfering in India's internal matters, slamming the country's defence minister for his statement that the Shehbaz Sharif government and the Congress-National Conference alliance were on the same page on the restoration of Article 370.He said that instead of giving such statements, Khawaja Asif should focus on protecting their citizens from «starvation and poverty». The Deputy Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha also criticised the BJP for talking about Asif's statement in the election campaign, «It appears that the BJP and Pakistan's establishment are reciprocating each other's interests,» he told reporters here. «We warn Pakistan against interfering in India's internal matters. Instead of giving such statements, ministers of Pakistan should focus on protecting their citizens from starvation and poverty,» Tiwari said.
