The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), which has re-branded itself as Commonwealth Sport will now lead evaluation process and the final appointment of the host will be decided by the CGF General Assembly. The decision to submit the bid comes after sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya recently asserted that the country was interested in hosting the Games.

Microsoft cofounder and philanthropist Bill Gates met prime minister Narendra Modi on Monday to discuss collaboration across the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), healthcare and agriculture, as well as on the digital infrastructure front. Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the India AI Mission and the Gates Foundation is expected soon. “AI solutions for better crops, stronger healthcare, smarter education, and climate resilience—MoU soon between India AI Mission and the Gates Foundation,” Vaishnaw posted on X.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made this statement during a meeting with his Dutch counterpart, Ruben Brekelmans, on Tuesday. The two nations discussed various areas of bilateral cooperation, including defence, security, information sharing, maritime collaboration in the Indo-Pacific, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and drones. Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Tuesday amid noisy protests by opposition members seeking to ask questions on the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Maha Kumbh. The proceedings were earlier adjourned till 1 pm, shortly after Modi made his statement and the opposition members rose in their seats in protest, with Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi apparently urging Speaker Om Birla to allow the opposition members to speak. They also demanded the inclusion of the stampede deaths in the statement. Members of the Congress, TMC and other opposition parties then stormed the Well, raising slogans, while Samajwadi Party members staged a walkout in protest. Parliamentary sources said the opposition parties demanded a discussion on the Maha Kumbh so that their members could share their views on the subject. They had demanded a discussion on the Maha Kumbh at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the House. As many as 30 pilgrims were killed and 60 injured in a stampede at the Maha Kumbh on January 29.

Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said, «Mr. Modi clearly is going out of his way to keep Mr. Trump in good humour.» «He says international organisations, from which India has benefited immensely, have become irrelevant. »This is the US President's language. In fact, it is Mr. Trump who is doing his best to make them irrelevant and now Mr. Modi is repeating 'his good friend's' chant," Ramesh claimed.

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on Sunday began a five-day visit to India with a focus on deepening the bilateral trade and economic ties. Days ahead of the trip, the New Zealand prime minister said he will push for a comprehensive economic partnership with India and explore ways to strengthen bilateral security ties. The area around Talkatora Stadium holds immense importance in the military campaigns launched by the Maratha Empire against the Mughals in the 18th century. Pawar said a Pune-based NGO had planned to install busts of Bajirao, Shinde and Holkar at the Talkatora Stadium, but litterateurs and historians have weighed in favour of equestrian statues of the three warriors. «However, many literary figures and well-wishers have voiced the sentiment that full-sized equestrian statues would be a more fitting tribute to their valour and contribution,» he said in a letter to Modi. Pawar said as Talkatora Stadium falls under the jurisdiction of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), he was seeking the prime minister's intervention in directing the Government of Delhi and NDMC to grant the necessary permissions for installing full-sized equestrian statues.
