Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday said the Centre has failed to bring peace at gunpoint in Manipur and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the state and listen to the apprehensions and concerns of the people. Initiating a discussion on the supplementary demands for grants, excess grants and the Manipur budget, he asserted that peace cannot be restored in the northeastern state at the barrel of gun and only a political solution was the way out. Delhi government is mulling over formation of a Yamuna task force in collaboration with the Territorial Army to prevent encroachments on flood plains of the river, dumping of debris and waste and other illegal activities. PWD and Water Minister Parvesh Verma said he discussed the issue with the Territorial Army. The specialised task force will be dedicated to protect the Yamuna floodplains, prevent encroachments, stop illegal dumping of debris and waste, and ensuring strict enforcement of environmental regulations, he said. «Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the double-engine government of the BJP, we are committed to restoring the Yamuna and protecting its floodplains. Digantara commissioned the world’s first commercial space-based space surveillance satellite, SCOT (space camera for object tracking), on Saturday. Launched aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-12 mission on January 14, SCOT aims to safeguard and manage Earth’s orbits. The satellite was successfully commissioned, achieving first light on Saturday. SCOT captured its inaugural image of the city of Buenos Aires while passing over South America. Modi, who attended the 'Lakhpati Didi Sammelan' at Vansi Borsi village, also disbursed Rs 450 crore in financial assistance to more than 2.5 lakh women from over 25,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The Lakhpati Didi scheme was launched by the Union government in 2023 and recognises women members of SHGs, who have an annual income of at least Rs 1 lakh from agriculture, animal husbandry, and small industries, as 'Lakhpati Didis'.

United States to complete the necessary formalities for the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Friday. He has previously called India the «biggest tariff abuser» and the «tariff king.»
