Shinde Sena's Sanjay Nirupam alleges Kunal Kamra show funded by Uddhav Thackeray
«The place where this show was recorded, the booking money for it came from Matoshree from Uddav Thackeray and that is why Eknath Shinde has been targeted,» Nirupam said during a press conference in Mumbai. «The people of Maharashtra have blessed the choice of Eknath Shinde, in that too, Kunal Kamra went forward with allegations because Sanjay Raut and Uddhav Thackeray has given him money,» he added. The leader further showed a photo of Sanjay Raut and Kunal Kamra at Habitat venue together. The photo is from a previous series of Kamra, called 'Ya Kunal,' where he interviewed UBT leader Sanjay Raut. Alleging that Kamra is part of the «Rahul Gandhi and Congress ecosystem,» he added, «He is a man of leftist ideology and a close friend of Sanjay Raut. First he walks with Rahul Gandhi in padyatra and his picture comes with Sanjay Raut, he also meets Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule. And now in the name of stand-up comedy, he has made a very low level comment on our supreme leader Eknath Shinde.»

Kunal Kamra controversy: Mumbai Police arrest 11 people of Shiv Sena Youth group for vandalism
Mumbai police arrested 11 members of the Yuva Sena, the youth faction of Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena on Monday for vandalising the Habitat comedy venue. According to police, the youth group went inside the venue while a live show of comedian Rajat Sood was going on, forcing it to stop and vandalised it. Shiv Sena has strongly objected to the comments made by Kamra, meanwhile the Opposition alliance in Maharahstra has criticised the Mahayuti government for the «break down of law and order», which UBT's Arvind Sawant saying that every word spoken by Kamra is correct. Earlier, Officials had registered a FIR it under Sections 132, 189(2), 189(3), 190, 191(2), 324(5), 324(6), 223, 351(2), 352, 333, 37(1), and 135 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and also under sections 37 (1) and 135 under the Maharashtra Police Act. Electricity rates in Delhi will rise, BJP says it's due to Rs 27,000 crore debt from AAP govt
Delhi Power Minister Ashish Sood has hinted at a possible rise in electricity prices, blaming it on a Rs 27,000 crore debt left by the previous AAP government with power distribution companies (Discoms) through the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC). Responding to a question by AAP MLA Imran Hussain in the Delhi Assembly, Sood said that Discoms have the authority to increase rates to recover the debt. He claimed that during the previous government's rule, the Delhi High Court had instructed DERC to issue a tariff order, but the administration failed to protect public interests. «The previous government has left a debt of Rs 27 thousand crores of regulatory assets with the discoms through DERC. To recover this, the companies are authorised to increase the electricity rates. During the tenure of the previous government, on the orders of the High Court, DERC was ordered to bring tariff orders,» Sood said. He added, «That government could not protect the interests of the public. In the coming time, electricity prices will rise, and perhaps some people even want this for their political gains. However, the government remains in touch with DERC and is closely monitoring the situation.»

CSK vs MI Weather and Pitch Report: How will the surface at Chepauk stadium in Chennai play for today's match?
CSK's star player, MS Dhoni, will once again be in the spotlight as he continues his long-standing association with the team since the IPL's inception in 2008. In contrast, Mumbai Indians will miss the services of their star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, who is still recovering from a back injury. His absence is a significant blow to MI, especially in the death overs, leaving the team to experiment with alternative options and strategies. ALSO READ: Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians predicted playing XIs, head to head record Additionally, MI will be without their regular captain, Hardik Pandya, who is serving a one-match ban due to a slow over-rate in last season's final match. Suryakumar Yadav, the India T20I captain, will lead MI in this opener. For CSK, the selection dilemma lies in choosing an opening partner for Ruturaj Gaikwad, with either Rachin Ravindra or Devon Conway likely to fill the spot. The middle order will include Rahul Tripathi, Shivam Dube, Hooda, Vijay Shankar, followed by Dhoni and Jadeja. CSK’s recent good record against Mumbai, including four wins in the last five encounters, will boost their confidence.

Jofra Archer concedes 20 boundaries against SRH: Here are 5 most expensive bowling spells in IPL history
Jofra Archer endured a night to forget during Rajasthan Royals' (RR) IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday, March 23. The speedster set an unwanted record, registering the most expensive bowling figures in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Bowling at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Archer leaked 76 runs in his four-over spell without picking up a wicket, surpassing Gujarat Titans’ (GT) paceman Mohit Sharma’s 0/73 against Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2024. The 29-year-old speedster, RR’s costliest acquisition at ₹12.50 crore in last year’s mega auction, struggled to find rhythm as SRH batters tore into him mercilessly.

Gold marks third consecutive weekly gain, eyes $3,100 target
Spot gold closed with a loss of around 0.68% at $3023 on March 21, as the US Dollar Index firmed up. Profit booking and tentative selling sent the metal lower. However, with a weekly gain of around 1.5%, it was up for the third straight week. Earlier in the week, gold rose to a fresh record high of $3057 on March 20, following the FOMC monetary policy decision delivered on March 19. The Committee’s new projections showed lower growth and higher unemployment and inflation in 2025 compared to its previous estimates. Additionally, the Fed's plan to reduce the pace of quantitative tightening (QT) also boosted the metal. Spot gold traded between $2982 and $3057 in the week ending March 21.

What is a 'secret sitting' in the Lok Sabha and has this provision ever been used?
Jawaharlal Nehru did not agree to it. Chapter 25 of the 'Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha' has enabling provisions to hold secret sittings at the request of the Leader of the House. According to Rule 248, subclause one, on a request made by the Leader of the House, the speaker will fix a day or a part of it for sitting of the House in secret. Subclause 2 says that when the House sits in secret no stranger will be permitted to be present in the chamber, lobby or the galleries. But there are some who will be allowed during such sittings. Another rule in the chapter says the speaker may direct that a report of the proceedings of a secret sitting be issued in such manner as the chair thinks fit.

Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants aim for strong IPL start under new leadership
Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, under new captains, will be eager to make a strong start to their IPL campaign when they face off here on Monday. For a second year running, the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium will host two home matches for Delhi Capitals. Pant, who had been a Delhi Capitals' player throughout his IPL career and also their captain, left the franchise ahead of the mega auction last year and was snapped up by LSG for a record price of Rs 27 crore. While his pay cheque will keep the Indian wicketkeeper-batter in limelight through the course of this season, it will also present Pant an opportunity to make a strong case for himself in the white-ball formats as he didn't get a game during the recent Champions Trophy. On the other hand, KL Rahul, who led LSG for two years since their IPL debut, has switched to Delhi Capitals, where he would be a vital cog in their plans, not as a leader but as a key batting mainstay, with Indian all-rounder Axar Patel being appointed captain. Like Mumbai Indians, DC too were spoilt for choices when it came to picking their captain as they also have Faf du Plessis apart from Rahul but the franchise opted for all-round Patel, whose career graph has been on a rise.

Chennai Weather Forecast: Will rain play spoilsport in today's MI vs CSK IPL clash?
Chennai Super Kings will lean on their formidable spin strength under favourable conditions at the Chepauk as well as recent record against Mumbai Indians when the two sides face each other in their Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign opener here on Sunday. Five-time winners CSK augmented their spin attack in the IPL mega auction last year by including Ravichandran Ashwin, Noor Ahmad Shreyas Gopal and Deepak Hooda, with India veteran Ravindra Jadeja also in the mix. CSK's pre-season moves indicate how the spin-friendly conditions at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here could be a major factor in their game plan. Starting their season against an equally formidable opponent in Mumbai Indians, this strategy could well deliver the goods right from the beginning. For CSK, MS Dhoni will be the cynosure of all eyes once again, having remained with the team since the inception of the IPL in 2008. On the other hand, the absence of India bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah could be acutely felt in the MI ranks as the right-arm pacer remains on a comeback trail from a back-related issue which has kept him sidelined so far this year. Bumrah is expected to miss the initial stages of this IPL and his absence will leave MI without their lethal weapon in the death overs, presenting the management with a headache to work with other options and strategies.

Old songs are like time machines, ride them & let the past play on
time travel. For instance, whenever I hear 'Dekha Hai Maine Tumhe Phir Se Palat Ke' from Ravikant Nagaich's Wardat (1981), it takes me back to my childhood in Kadam Kuan, Patna. A bunch of 15-16-year-old boys are listening to Bappi Lahiri's music on a 45 RPM record. The boys are friends of my elder brother, and I, as a 6-year-old, have been banished from their midst. But I am allowed to peek in through the door. One of the boys is a famed dancer of the mohalla and everyone urges him to do his Mithun routine. I don't rate him highly. It is his white leather boots that, I feel, have prejudiced the jury in his favour. After much coaxing, he gets up, throws his arms in the air, and starts disco dancing. With Mithunda, you don't move around much. You just stand and deliver with hand movements and bent-knee hip gyrations. Decades later, I can still see the white leather boots with 2-inch heels and side zippers I coveted every time I listen to Bappi Lahiri sing that song. Lahiri's special genius was that he sang Hindi songs as if they were a foreign language. More often than not, like a slightly campy Welshman. Wardat was Mithunda's second coming as Gunmaster G-9, our own dancing James Bond. Though not as successful as Suraksha (1980), the soundtrack of Wardat is memorable.
