The history of exploration in the Arctic by European and North American expeditions is littered with gruesome ways to die. The challenges of navigating the merciless landscape are many, which is why the first humans to travel over the surface of the frozen Arctic Ocean to reach the North Pole, the geographical top of the world, arrived as late as 1969—the same year astronauts made it to the surface of the moon. SEC security Boeing reports travelers International Boeing finds executives got an extra $500,000 in perks from private jets
An internal Boeing review found that Chief Executive David Calhoun and other top executives took personal trips worth more than $500,000 on the company’s private jets and other planes that were improperly recorded as business travel. The review and correction, which Boeing disclosed in a securities filing, was prompted by a Wall Street Journal investigation last year into the executives’ use of the company’s fleet of private jets, people familiar with the matter said. Boeing’s review found that some flights by the executives in 2021 and 2022 “were not previously classified as perquisites by the company but should have been classified as such in accordance with SEC rules and guidance," the company said in its proxy filing April 5.

Manufacturing Racing Tesla wellness country International How China beat the US in the great EV race
electric vehicle producer in the world and, simultaneously, an also-ran in the race for EVs. How did that happen? As recently as 2016, the US had more EVs on the road than China did. Now China has raced ahead. Despite Tesla Inc.’s pioneering role in bringing electrification into the mainstream, the US EV effort is beset by angst. While sales jumped by 44% last year, that is expected to slow markedly in 2024, with signs of retreat not just in Detroit but at Tesla itself. Tesla briefly lost its crown as the world’s biggest battery EV producer in the fourth-quarter of 2023 to BYD Co. Ltd., and will likely do so again. Chief executive Elon Musk is on record saying that, absent trade barriers, Chinese manufacturers “will pretty much demolish most other car companies in the world.” Tesla’s gigantic valuation these days has more to do with visions of robotaxis rather than EV leadership, per se.

Provident Digital Election information Courts SBI refuses to disclose electoral bonds' details under RTI Act
State Bank of India (SBI) has refused to disclose under the RTI Act the details of the electoral bonds furnished to the Election Commission (EC), claiming that it is personal information held in a fiduciary capacity, even though the records are in the public domain on the poll panel's website. Holding that the electoral bonds scheme was «unconstitutional and manifestly arbitrary», the Supreme Court directed the SBI on February 15 to furnish the complete details of the bonds purchased since April 12, 2019 to the EC, which would publish the information on its website by March 13. On March 11, the court dismissed the SBI's petition seeking an extension of the deadline and ordered it to disclose the details of the electoral bonds to the EC by the close of business hours on March 12. RTI activist Commodore (retired) Lokesh Batra approached the SBI on March 13 seeking the complete data of the electoral bonds in the digital form, as provided to the EC after the Supreme Court's order.
