Indian Premier League 2024 as it kicks off this March 22. Gold rate today: On account of the rising US dollar rate against the major global currencies, gold prices witnessed profit-booking after touching a new all-time high of ₹66,356 per 10 gm on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). Gold futures contract on MCX for April 2024 expiry ended at ₹65,545 per 10 gm level on Friday last week, logging more than ₹800 dip against the new peak.

Election Commission is set to announce dates from the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Saturday, with a press conference scheduled for 3:30 pm. The poll body is also likely to announce the dates to polls for four state assemblies. This year's Lok Sabha elections could see voting take place over six or seven phases, likely starting in late April, with the results likely to be announced a month later, in May. The polls to elect the 18th Lok Sabha will see nearly 97 crore eligible voters exercise their franchise in over 12 lakh polling stations. April's elections will replace the Lok Sabha, whose term is ending on June 16, while state polls will see voting in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. Terms for Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are ending on June 11 and June 24, while both the Arunachal and Sikkim assemblies will see theirs end on June 2.

Pierce Brosnan, who pleaded guilty to stepping off a trail in a thermal area during a November visit to Yellowstone National Park, was caught after posting pictures online, court records said. Brosnan, who called in to the court hearing in Mammoth, Wyoming, on Thursday, was fined USD 500 and ordered to make a USD 1,000 donation by April 1 to Yellowstone Forever, a nonprofit organization that supports the park, court records said. Prosecutors had recommended a USD 5,000 fine and a two-year probationary sentence. A second petty offense, for violating closures and use limits, was dismissed by US Magistrate Judge Stephanie Hambrick. The actor issued an apology on his Instagram account Thursday, saying he «made an impulsive mistake» and calling himself an environmentalist with «the utmost respect for and love of our natural world.»

Artificial intelligence (AI) bulls have been flocking to an exchange-traded fund (ETF) that doubles the return on Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) stock as trading volumes and inflows surge to record highs. The ETF, GraniteShares 2x Long NVDA Daily ETF (NVDL), recently carried out a 6 for 1 stock split, after pulling in more than $1 billion year-to-date. The strong interest in NVDL comes amidst the unrelenting growth of NVDA stock.
