WHO chief scientist and health ministry advisor Soumya Swaminathan has said. In an interview with PTI on the sidelines of TERI's World Sustainable Development Summit, she also stressed the urgent need for better tracking, preparedness and policy interventions as the country braces for another extreme summer. Asked if India was undercounting heat-related deaths, the former director general of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said, «Most likely. We do not really have a good record of every death in the country and so we have to make some estimations. We have to do some sort of calculations or modelling based on what is happening.» But recently, there have been several scientific papers that have actually tracked what are called excess deaths, Swaminathan said.

For the unversed, the youngster, who suffers from a rare medical condition, has over 95 per cent of his face covered in hair. Known as hypertrichosis, this condition causes an abnormal amount of hair to grow on the face. In an interview with GWR, Patidar revealed that living with this condition was far from a bed of roses. “They were scared of me but when they started knowing me and talking to me they understood I was not so different from them, and it was just on the outside that I looked different, but I’m not different inside," he explained.

An earthquake measuring 4.1 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Baglung district, about 300 kilometres from Kathmandu, at 6.20 a.m., the National Earthquake Monitoring Centre said. The epicentre of the tremor was the Khukhani area in the district.
