Citi Provident FIVE Progressive Career Cincinnati Reds extend manager David Bell's contract by another 3 years
Cincinnati Reds have made a significant move to extend the contract of their manager, David Bell, for three more years until the 2026 season. At 50 years old, Bell has been at the helm for five years and is currently in the final year of his previous contract. Last season was challenging for the Reds, as they endured 100 losses. However, this year has been a different story, with an impressive resurgence driven by a dynamic young core. The team's current record of 56-48 puts them in a competitive position, just 1½ games behind the first place in the National League Central division. If they manage to outperform the Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs, they would accomplish a historic feat — becoming the first team in major league history to go from triple-digit losses to a division title in consecutive seasons.

UPS Cooper AXY debate Oppn to pause Manipur protest as ‘AAP and Trinamool axis’ forces INDIA to debate, vote on Delhi bill
MPs belonging to the INDIA alliance will pause their protest in Parliament, demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on the Manipur issue, and participate in the debate and voting when the bill to replace the Delhi ordinance will come up in the Houses next week. This decision was taken after AAP members demanded so at the INDIA floor leaders’ meeting on Friday morning. But, this also triggered discontent among some Opposition MPs who wondered why the entire Opposition should be on their legislative vigil only for a bill about which the Arvind Kejriwal government and AAP are sensitive about whereas many other important bills were getting pushed through by the government by making use of the Opposition protests. While AAP’s Raghav Chaddha pitched for INDIA MPs’ presence in the Houses for debate and voting against the bill, Trinamool’s Derek O’Brien acted as the former’s zealous backer. “Evidently, AAP and Trinamool had come prepared to push the case and it is understandable given the Arvind Kejriwal-Mamata Banerjee axis in the Opposition,” quipped an Opposition leader after the meeting. While Congress is already tied down by its public promise to oppose the bill, as demanded by Kejriwal ahead of the Karnataka conclave, similar compulsion of others to keep “Opposition unity” also meant agreeing to AAP’s wish. The proposal for Opposition mobilisation against the bill included bringing ailing members such as former PM Manmohan Singh and Shibu Soren for voting.

UPS Waters Extreme Southern country Power US power generators burn record amounts of natural gas on hottest day of summer
power generators will likely burn a record amount of natural gas for a second day in a row on Friday, the hottest day so far this summer, as homes and businesses crank up their air conditioners to escape a brutal heatwave blanketing much of the country this week. Extreme weather reminds consumers of the fatal freeze in February 2021 that left millions of Texans without power, water and heat for days and a brutal heatwave in August 2020 that forced the California power grid operator to impose rotating outages that affected about 800,000 customers over two days. As soaring demand stresses electric grids this summer, next-day power prices soared to their highest since January in Southern California and their highest since February in New England, according to data provider Refinitiv.
