The weaker figures came in mostly in September, when a series of factors including volatile US equities, the unpredictability of the American election and fears over the contents of the UK Autumn Budget at the time were loo...

Maharashtra Bitcoin row: BJP targets Supriya Sule, Nana Patole
Supriya Sule and Nana Patole for their alleged involvement in using Bitcoins illegally to fund elections, and claimed their roles will surface during the probe. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra also targeted Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, and asked the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha to hold a press conference on the issue. In a press conference, Patra rejected the opposition's claim that the BJP was behind the «conspiracy» to target them amid the Maharashtra polls as he claimed that the suspected crypto currency fraud occurred years back and the opposition alliance used the money in previous elections as well. It appears that the money involved so far in this scam is Rs 235 crore, he claimed.

NPA provisioning moderates in Q2 driven by PSU banks
bad loans by banks fell in the September quarter for the second consecutive period based on year-on-year comparison driven by the public sector banks (PSBs). For a sample of 29 publicly listed banks, provisioning for nonperforming assets (NPA) fell by 2.9% to ₹27,318.2 crore. For PSBs, it fell by 11.6% to ₹14,628.3 crore with half of them reporting a year-on-year drop in loan loss provisioning. PSBs, including Punjab National Bank, Central Bank of India and Indian Overseas Bank, recorded a 82-93% fall in the NPA provisioning. Largecaps and select smallcaps to lead market bounce: Nimesh Chandan
«There will be a higher bounce in companies which are like a coiled spring, which have valuations which are attractive, results which have been good, and outlook is also good,» says Nimesh Chandan, CIO, Bajaj Finserv Asset Management. Because the last couple of months have been a bit dicey for the markets and we are in the correction territory now for what it is. But from here on, do you expect a lot more sideways move or do you expect that within the next three to six months we will resume sort of that swift bull run? Nimesh Chandan: So, Robert Shiller once said that corrections in a bull market come like a thief in the night. You cannot really time it. So, obviously, whenever it comes, people get a bit surprised and shocked. And this correction especially was triggered by one set of investors, the foreign investors, selling in a very intense way in say time crunched within one month. It is a record selling within that, so that is what got people a bit worried about this correction compared to any regular correction that comes in.

How Kamala Harris burned through $1.5 billion in 15 weeks
Kamala Harris spent a remarkable $1.5 billion in her hyper-compressed 15-week presidential campaign. But in the days since losing to President-elect Donald Trump, her operation has faced questions internally and externally over where exactly all that cash went. Despite her significant financial advantage, Harris became the first Democratic presidential candidate to lose the national popular vote in two decades, ceding every battleground state to Trump. Her cash-rich campaign spared no expense as it hunted for voters — paying for an avalanche of advertising, social-media influencers, a for-hire door-knocking operation, thousands of staff, pricey rallies, a splashy Oprah town hall, celebrity concerts and even drone shows.
