What was Gareth Southgate's salary as England manager? Here's what we know
Gareth Southgate has left his job as England manager after Euro Cup 2024 finals against Spain. Meanwhile, the hunt for a new manager is still on. It is interesting to note, however, that Southgate was the highest paid manager in the entire Euros, comprising of some of the globally top-ranked participating countries. Southgate left his post even after being tipped for knighthood for services to the country. His stellar record saw England reaching the finals of Euro championships twice, as well as the 2018 FIFA World Cup semifinals. Therefore, his inflated salary was quite justified, looking at his enormous responsibility of leading England to such epic international clashes throughout his eight years with the team. Although he could not manage to win a silverware for the team, he still leaves behind a rich legacy and a formation of an elite team that has tasted success at the highest levels. How much did Gareth Southgate earn as England manager?

Golf: Will Rory Roar in Troon? Scheffler, DeChambeau loom over McIlroy bid for major redemption
British Open at Royal Troon is a long one as Rory McIlroy begins his latest bid to end a decade-long major title drought. McIlroy's misery continued in last month's U.S. Open where he agonisingly finished second — one shot behind American Bryson DeChambeau — after bogeying three of his last four holes. The pain of that loss took McIlroy a few days to process but, as he prepares for Thursday's opening round, he is feeling no added pressure in his quest to claim a fifth career major.

Biden says only one factor can convince him to step down; here is the reason
Joe Biden is only growing day by day. The president seeks to circumvent this by getting a presidential nomination when the party holds a virtual roll call in the coming weeks ahead of the national convention. However, there is one reason, according to Biden that will encourage him to drop out of the presidential election in November. In an interview to the Black Entertainment Television, Biden said that only if there are health challenges, he will step down. This interview will be aired on Wednesday and is being perceived as an effort by Biden to reach out to the minority voters whose support is critical for the party to emerge victorious.

Donald Trump bets on JD Vance to get a chance in Midwest
JD Vance is supposed to help Donald Trump win the Midwest this fall. But almost immediately after the Ohio senator was announced as Trump's vice presidential pick on Monday, one thing became clear: Vance, a 39-year-old Republican with less than two years in Congress, is not well-known among many in his party, even in the swing states Trump hopes he'll deliver. Michigan Republican Party Chairman Pete Hoekstra offered a blunt response when asked about Trump's pick minutes after it was announced: «We don't know him.» «If he's from Ohio, he understands our state and the other northern battlegrounds,» Hoekstra said, standing on the floor of the Republican National Convention (RNC). «But we haven't had a chance to take his measure yet.»

Pharma companies against plan to bring nutraceuticals under drug regulator
nutraceuticals to the drug regulatory authority from the oversight of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has come under fire from pharma lobby groups and industry experts, who have raised apprehensions over the move and said the proposal should be kept in abeyance until it is discussed in detail. Nutraceuticals refers to food products with extra health benefits and includes supplements, functional foods and beverages. According to industry data, the segment is projected to grow to $18 billion in India by the end of 2025 from $4 billion in 2020. Experts said the regulations for nutraceuticals in the country are aligned with Codex Alimentarius, a global body functioning under the auspices of the World Health Organisation (WHO) to ensure safety of consumers.

Looking at setting up centre for negotiations on FTAs, other biz deals: Comm Secy
commerce ministry is looking at setting up a centre for negotiations, as this is an important skill set required in areas like free trade agreements and other business deals, a top government official said on Tuesday. Addressing students and faculties of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) here, Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal said the centre can also help in creating a skill set among students of the institute. «Negotiations are going to be a very very important skill these days. When we do FTAs, negotiation skills are a very important tool, so we have to create one centre for negotiations. But that centre is not just supposed to do FTA (free trade agreement) negotiations, we have to get into the broader framework of negotiations, which also involves mergers and acquisitions and other business deals,» Barthwal said. This centre will not be only for the government, but it will also be able to create skill sets among IIFT students.

How Russia became the street bully of space
Russia’s new nuclear space weapon has spurred White House and congressional warnings about Moscow’s irresponsibility on the global stage. Russia’s move isn’t surprising, given its frustration over the war with Ukraine and its failure to contain or fracture the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Yet this is another chapter in Moscow’s long decline in space leadership.

Pooja Khedkar's alleged misrepresentation of the 'non-creamy layer' certificate has brought attention to the 'OBC creamy layer' criteria and its enforcement. Many genuine backward class aspirants are facing difficulties and are hopeful that the current BJP government will address the long-overdue revision of the 'creamy layer' limits for Mandal reservations. The revision has been pending for seven years, despite being due every three years to account for inflation.

Area that hosted Trump rally could prove pivotal in 2024 election
BUTLER, Pa.—The assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump occurred in a largely rural slice of western Pennsylvania that in many ways typifies the regions Trump is leaning on for strong support in the coming election. Butler County, the site of Saturday’s Trump rally, and the surrounding area are home to an economy that has swung significantly in recent decades. The shift, from the decline of steel and manufacturing jobs to the rise of the natural-gas fracking industry, has left many workers displaced and unsettled.
