Target Action Mobile Recent raids by ED in Chhattisgarh were politically motivated, alleges CM Bhupesh Baghel
Baghel on Sunday claimed recent raids conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the state were politically motivated. He alleged the federal anti-money laundering agency neither took any action nor attached assets of the distillers concerned who are the main accused in the liquor scam. Baghel said Central agencies including the ED, CBI, DRI, and Income Tax have become a threat to democracy as the BJP-led Central government is misusing them. «The statement of Chhattisgarh BJP in-charge Om Mathur who on Saturday said in Surguja 'let's see what happens in the next two months' is the fresh example of the misuse of these Central agencies,» Baghel told reporters here. He alleged the ED is defaming the state government in the online betting app case. «The Central probe agency (ED) goes to one department then to another and when they get nothing there, they go to the third department, but they also get nothing there.

UPS Waters Action Pool show cover Inside At Japanese nuclear plant, controversial treated water release just the beginning of decommissioning
Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant's central control room in northeastern Japan, the treated water transfer switch is on. A graph on a computer monitor nearby shows a steady decrease of water levels as treated radioactive wastewater is diluted and released into the Pacific Ocean. In the coastal area of the plant, two seawater pumps are in action, gushing torrents of seawater through sky blue pipes into the big header where the treated water, which comes down through a much thinner black pipe from the hilltop tanks, gets diluted by hundreds of times before the release. The sound of the treated and diluted radioactive water flowing into an underground secondary pool was heard from beneath the ground during Sunday's first plant tour for media, including The Associated Press, since the controversial release began. «The best way to eliminate the contaminated water is to remove the melted fuel debris,» said Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings spokesperson Kenichi Takahara, who escorted Sunday's media tour for the foreign press. But Takahara said the scarcity of information from inside the reactors makes planning and development of the necessary robotic technology and a facility for the melted fuel removal extremely difficult. «Removal of the melted fuel debris is not like we can just take it out and be finished,» he said. The projected decades-long release of treated water has been strongly opposed by fishing groups and criticized by neighboring countries.

UPS Progressive Action Fighting Remark stage Congress' Milind Deora hails 'evolving chemistry' of INDIA partners, says 'best example' of it is in Maharashtra
INDIA bloc in Mumbai, Congress leader Milind Deora on Sunday said seat sharing for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls among alliance partners is more or less finalised in many states with only a few states requiring more time. Deora, who is closely involved in the organising of the meeting, hailed the «evolving chemistry» between Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) partners and said the best example of that was in Maharashtra. In an interview with PTI ahead of the INDIA bloc meeting on August 31-September 1, the Congress leader from Maharashtra also asserted that there are «no problems» within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising the Congress, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction). His remarks come close on the heels of a «split» in the NCP with Ajit Pawar and eight other NCP MLAs joining the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state on July 2. Subsequently, the meetings between NCP supremo Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit Pawar have been the subject of some consternation among INDIA bloc partners. Deora dismissed concerns over the developments in the NCP, saying seat sharing among MVA partners will be discussed and finalised at a later stage and what was happening within the NCP is their «internal issue». The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance is an opposition bloc of 26 parties, which was formed recently to take on the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.
