Kumbh 2025: CPCB report finds Ganga, Yamuna water fit for bathing despite variability
Maha Kumbh was fit for bathing, based on statistical analysis. The report, dated February 28 and uploaded on the tribunal's website on March 7, highlights that variations in water sample data required a detailed statistical review to assess overall river water quality. The CPCB conducted water monitoring twice a week from January 12, including auspicious bathing days, at five locations on the Ganga and two on the Yamuna. The report noted significant fluctuations in key water quality parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), and fecal coliform (FC) levels across different dates and locations. An expert committee reviewed the data variations and concluded that factors such as human activities, river flow, sampling depth, and current mixing influenced the readings. «The data represents a snapshot of water quality at a specific location and time and may vary significantly,» the report stated.

Short-term volatility, sectoral shifts, FII selling: Sunil Subramaniam’s take on markets
Sunil Subramaniam attributed the recent uptick to domestic fund managers selectively deploying their cash reserves despite sustained selling by foreign institutional investors (FIIs). «This week, the reason for the slight uptick is that domestic fund managers, who are still sitting on a lot of cash, have engaged in some selective buying. FIIs have continued their selling,» he stated.

IPO activity slows down, no main-bourse listings in last 3 weeks
secondary market. This slowdown in IPO activity is reflected in the numbers, as only five companies went public in January and four in February, compared to 16 listings in December 2024. Quality Power Electrical Equipment Ltd was the recent IPO which opened for three-day bidding on February 14. However, the trend of slower activity is evident as at least three companies — Advanced Sys-tek, SFC Environmental Technologies, and Viney Corporation — withdrew IPO plans by pulling their draft papers in January and February.

Kiyosaki rejects Bitcoin ETFs: Why he prefers real BTC over paper assets
Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, has once again voiced his skepticism toward traditional financial systems, this time targeting Bitcoin ETFs. In his latest tweet, he reaffirmed his belief in holding physical assets like gold, silver, and Bitcoin rather than investing in ETFs, which he described as «fake.» Kiyosaki has long warned about economic instability and the risks of traditional investments. He believes financial institutions, particularly Wall Street, are designed to keep investors «financially naive.» According to him, true financial security comes from owning real assets, not relying on ETFs, which he claims lack intrinsic value.

Amid growing focus on DEI, gap between high-maturity organisations and their peers is widening, says new study
Corporate India on the whole, is still at a ‘progressive’ stage (L2), finds the analysis of 251 organisations, including 40 Nifty100 Companies and 8 of the top 10 Indian business houses, by talent and leadership consulting firm BasilTree Consulting — where organisations have formal strategies and defined initiatives, but DEI is yet to become a true business driver. Over a third of companies are still at the ‘emerging’ stage (L1), treating DEI as compliance-led and event-driven, while only a small fraction has reached a ‘transformative’ (L4) stage, where inclusion is embedded into culture, strategy, and measurable business impact. The more mature companies – belonging to the Nifty-100 list, are in the L3 bracket.

Will relief rally power Nifty above 23,000 this week? 6 key triggers to track
Nifty breaking a three-week losing streak and closing nearly 2% higher despite weak global cues amid the rising threat of tariff wars with multiple trading partners. This rebound was driven by encouraging macroeconomic indicators, a fall in the dollar index, and liquidity infusion by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). “The metal, capital goods, and energy sectors outperformed due to optimism over China's stimulus and lower crude oil prices. A fall in the dollar index also boosted investor sentiment towards emerging markets, while the US equity markets have declined due to uncertainty over Trump's economic policies,” said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services.

Celebrating women and their financial freedom: A smart approach to SIP, STP, and SWP
Women are making waves in the world of finance, which is an exciting development of the last few years. While women now account for 22% of India’s stock market investors (a significant 6.8x surge since 2015), many are still letting their hard-earned money sit idle. It's time for more women to take charge of their financial futures. Research by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) shows that 17% of female investors across B30 and T30 cities are now regularly contributing to SIPs (Systematic Investment Plans). More women are entering the stock market and their share of mutual fund industry assets has grown significantly in the last few years. This growth is powered by increased financial literacy, rising financial independence, and more women entering the workforce. Thanks to initiatives by SEBI, fund houses are now hosting women-centric educational sessions, making investing more accessible and empowering for women.

Trump tariff threat: What it means for stock market investors in India
volatility into global stock markets, with India finding itself in the crosshairs of the U.S. president’s push for trade realignment. With India’s effective tariff rate on U.S. goods at 9.5%, compared to the 3% that the U.S. imposes on Indian goods, the threat of reciprocal tariffs looms large, sparking concerns across key industries, from automobiles and pharmaceuticals to textiles and steel. Even after this week's relief rally, Nifty is still down around 14% from peak while smallcaps and microcaps are locked in bear market territory as FIIs have pulled out over $15 billion from Indian stocks in 2025 alone.

Proof of Reserves: Strengthening trust and transparency in the evolving crypto ecosystem
assets, maintaining trust and transparency remain at the core of any crypto exchange which aims to retain user confidence and address any concerns that investors might have while navigating this dynamic space. Demonstrating adequate proof of reserves provides players with a reliable and verifiable method to show they possess sufficient funds to cover all customer deposits By disclosing reserve data, exchanges can assure users that their funds are secure. This becomes important to prevent panic withdrawals and build user trust, which is fundamental in any financial ecosystem. The utility of such measures is greatly amplified today, given that there have been some cases where crypto platforms lacked the necessary financial backing, resulting in significant losses for users.
