The meeting stressed on Foxconn's ongoing and prospective projects that are expected to significantly boost the state's economic growth, job creation, and technological innovation. The meeting was attended by notable members of the Karnataka delegation, including Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Foxconn will establish a major mobile phone assembly plant, known as Project Elephant, in Karnataka. The company has secured 300 acres of land in the ITIR Industrial Area, which spans Doddaballapura and Devanahalli Taluk in Bengaluru Rural District. With an investment of Rs 22,000 crore, this project is expected to generate over 40,000 jobs.

RBI tightens guidelines for NBFC P2P lending
bank tightened norms for non-bank lenders operating as peer-to-peer (P2P) lending platforms, barring them from selling insurance products that are in the form of credit enhancement and prohibiting P2P platform from providing any assurance or guarantee on the recovery of loans. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) also directed non-banking finance companies (NBFC) to charge a fixed fee, which should not be linked to the borrower's repayment. The regulator also reiterated that the platform cannot provide credit guarantee. The banking regulator's master direction issued on Friday comes into force with immediate effect. Crowdfunding through the P2P platform connects individual lenders with borrowers to facilitate unsecured loans. There are 26 NBFCs-P2P registered with the RBI as of March 31, 2024.

A division bench of Justice Rajesh Patil and AS Chandurkar stated that they are not inclined to entertain Goenka's plea due to an unjustifiable delay in challenging the Sebi communication dated September 13, 2021, and not challenging the subsequent interim order issued by the securities market regulator on April 25, 2023. On September 13, 2021, Sebi picked KPMG Assurance and Consulting Services as the forensic auditor for SGRL's financial accounts for the fiscal years 2018-2019 through 2020-2021.

Hindu family's house torched in Bangladesh: Report
Hindu family with no political affiliation in northwest Bangladesh, a media report said on Wednesday, in the latest incident of targeted attacks on the minority community after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government. The incident in Farabari Mandirpara village in Akcha union under Thakurgaon Sadar upazila took place on Tuesday evening, hours after Chief Advisor to the interim government Yunus Muhammad assured the distressed minority community that his government would punish the perpetrators. The targeted arson incident also came on the same day when the Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance claimed that the minority community faced attacks and threats in 278 locations across 48 districts since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5 and termed it as an «assault on the Hindu religion.» Unidentified individuals set fire to Kaleshwar Barman's house around 7:30 pm on Tuesday in Farabari Mandirpara village in Akcha union under Thakurgaon Sadar upazila, Subrata Kumar Barman, chairman of Akcha Union Parishad (UP), told newspaper The Daily Star.

Ensure level playing field during assembly polls: EC team tells Haryana officials
Election Commission has directed district election officers and superintendents of police in Haryana to act with complete impartiality and ensure a level playing field for free and fair assembly elections. Underscoring its focus on an inducement-free poll process, the commission directed the enforcement agencies to work in a coordinated manner to curb the inflow of illicit liquor, cash and drugs. The directions were issued by an Election Commission (EC) team led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.
