Citi Provident CEO awards show Covid field hospital scam: ED files chargesheet
ED) Friday filed its prosecution complaint ( PC) in the alleged irregularities in awarding the covid field hospital contracts to Lifeline Hospital Management Services (LHMS). A PC is equivalent to a chargesheet filed by the police under CrPC. Earlier in July, the ED had arrested Sujit Patkar, a co-partner of LHMS who is also said to be a close aide of Shiv Sena leader (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), Sanjay Raut, and Dr Kishore Bisure, dean of the jumbo covidfacility in Dahisar. According to the ED, LHMS was incorporated with a mere investment of Rs 12,500, received Rs 31.84 crores from the BMC for supply of medical staff to covid centres. The probe found that 50-60 percent of the medical staff, including doctors and paramedics, were non-existent.

NEW DELHI : EbixCash Ltd, payment services company that plans to go public, is yet to disclose in its draft share sale documents an adverse arbitration order passed by a Singapore court in June that could cost it ₹100-200 crore. The firm, a unit of Nasdaq-listed Ebix Inc., received the markets regulator’s approval for a ₹6,000 crore IPO in April. EbixCash purchased gift card provider ITZCash in 2017 and rebranded it to Ebix Payment Services (EPS), which now forms a big chunk of its business.

Reliance Industries and others on the government’s appeal that accused the Mukesh Ambani-owned conglomerate and its partners of committing an “insidious fraud” and “unjust enrichment of over $1.729 billion” by siphoning gas from deposits they had no right to exploit. Attorney General R Venkentaramani and former AG KK Venugopal, appearing for the govt, argued that RIL in 2003 knew about the connectivity of its block with that of the adjoining ONGC block. They also accused RIL of ‘consciously and deliberately’ extracting and selling the adjoining ONGC gas without the government’s knowledge. The senior lawyers also argued that RIL had earlier taken a categorical stand that “there is no connectivity and continuity” between RIL’s and ONGC’s block.
