FIFA Best Men's Coach Award 2023? The nominations for the coach award have been unveiled with Pep Guardiola leading the shortlist. Others who have made it to the shortlist include Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez, who won the league title in his first full season as in-charge of the club. AC Milan manager Simone Inzaghi, former Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti and Ange Postecoglou are on the shortlist. Ange Postecoglou won a historic treble with Celtic last season and is now managing Tottenham.
Pep Guardiola made history last season when he became the first man to win trebles. He won trophies with two different clubs after guiding Manchester City to success at home and abroad. The Manchester City manager also made it to the shortlist last year but finished behind Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni, who took away the top prize after winning the World Cup in Qatar.
The nominations for the FIFA Best Women's Coach Award 2023 have been announced. The list includes Peter Gerhardsson of Sweden, Jonathan Giraldez of Barcelona, Tony Gustavsson of Australia, Emma Hayes of Chelsea and Sarina Weigman of England.
Sarina Weigman reached the final of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 held last month. Interestingly, Jorge Vilda of Spain, the team that won the Women's World Cup has not made it to the shortlist. He was at the centre of controversy for backing President Luis Rubiales. Rubiales was fired after FIFA suspended him over the allegedly non-consensual kiss during the World Cup victory celebration.
