Tata Electronics fire: Apple may turn to China for iPhone cases
Tata Electronics plant at Hosur is not operational within a month or so, market trackers and industry executives aware of the development said. But they are hopeful that the plant will become operational in a couple of weeks as the smartphone industry has entered the crucial festive season when the bulk of the sales happen. Operations at the Tata Electronics plant in the industrial town of Hosur in Tamil Nadu were disrupted over the weekend as a massive fire engulfed it. No casualties or injuries have been reported. The plant currently makes anodised enclosures, or cases, for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models, according to industry analysts.

Tata Motors to accelerate maintenance shutdown amid rising stockpiles, declining sales
Tata Motors is set to advance the annual maintenance shutdown of its passenger vehicle plants due to mounting stockpiles-equivalent to up to two months of sales-amid slowing sales across its petrol, CNG and electric cars, multiple people aware of the company's plans said. This is to align production with demand and correct the stock before the calendar year ends, they said. Typically, auto companies take annual maintenance shutdowns in December to correct stock levels of the ongoing calendar year and make way for the new calendar year models. Tata Motors would be the first passenger vehicle maker to pare output amid slowing sales this year, people cited above said. Other automakers are likely to take a call on paring their output post the festive season, they added. After a scorching pace of growth for three years, passenger vehicle sales in India hit the slow lane this year. Sales are estimated to have declined in September over the year-ago period, marking a third consecutive month of decline.

HC was hearing the suo motu PIL after the assault incident when two kindergarten students of a school were sexually assaulted in the school's toilet by one of the employees.

Badlapur sexual assault case: HC refuses pre-arrest bail to 2 accused school trustees
Bombay High Court on Tuesday refused pre-arrest bail to the chairman and secretary of a school in Maharashtra's Badlapur town where two minor girls were sexually assaulted by a male attendant. A single bench of Justice R N Laddha said prima facie there is material to show the two accused were aware of the alleged incident before August 16 but they failed to take any steps to report the same to police or local authority. Justice Laddha further said the offence is serious and the court has to consider the plight of the minor victims. «The victims are minors. The trauma that they have endured can profoundly affect their adolescent years leaving them with lasting psychological scars,» the court said.

Lavasa creditors set eligibility floor to begin resolution 2.0
Lavasa Corp, which was once touted as India's first private hill town project, have set an eligibility criteria of ₹100 crore net worth and a ₹25 lakh refundable deposit for new expressions of interest (EOIs) from prospective bidders as they try to find a buyer for a second time after junking the previous attempt earlier this year. The minutes of the meeting of the committee of creditors (CoC) held on September 17 show that 77% of lenders led by Union Bank of India (UBI) have agreed to a minimum criteria for bidders which is a change from the last time the process ran without any eligible criteria to «maximise participation» of applicants. «Besides this eligibility criteria, lenders also want to make certain changes with most likely a new resolution professional (RP) in place of Shailesh Verma and a process advisor to make way in place of Deloitte as both have been in charge for long and has presided over a what has been a failed process prior to this,» said a person aware of the matter. A joint lenders forum (JLF) called by UBI is expected to finalise timelines and appointment of a new RP as early as next week as lenders pick up the pieces after many twists and turns in the case.

People of Haryana have decided to vote BJP out of power: Former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel
Bhupesh Baghel said that people of Haryana have decided to vote the BJP out of power, which has misruled the state for 10 years. CM Bhupesh Baghel said, «There is a terrific electoral atmosphere in Haryana. People of Haryana have decided to vote the BJP out of power, which has misruled the state for 10 years. The nation is aware of the farmers' protest which has been going on for a long time, the betrayal of the youth through the agniveer scheme and finally people have seen wrestlers' protest. People are deeply troubled by corruption, bureaucracy, and incapability of the government and they want a change.» He said further that the voting on October 5 would be against the BJP government. After a decade in power in Haryana, the BJP faces a crucial test in the Haryana elections, with key issues like farmer protests, wrestler support, and leadership changes, as a loss here could ripple across future state and national elections.

WeWork Inc’s plans fail to work out
WeWork Inc.’s plan to sell the 27% it holds in its Indian unit and exit the country has collapsed, according to three people aware of the matter. This comes after the Competition Commission of India (CCI) had approved the proposal. Along with the bankruptcy-hit WeWork Inc., the coworking firm’s local partner WeWork India, promoted by Bangalore-based realtor Embassy Group, was also slated to divest a 13% stake to a consortium of investors including the Enam group family office, A91 Partners and CaratLane founder Mithun Sacheti in a Rs 1,200 crore secondary transaction, as reported first by ET on April 22. The Indian real estate group holds 73% in the India unit while WeWork Inc. owns the rest. The deal cleared by the regulator, as per a June 18 order, involved a two-step process that would see WeWork Inc. and Embassy together selling a stake of about 40% to new investors.
