ED) has asked the Bureau of Immigration (BOI) to issue a look out circular (LOC) against Byju Raveendran, founder and CEO of the eponymous, embattled edtech company Byju's, people with knowledge of the matter told ET. The central agency approached BOI earlier this month to issue a fresh LOC to ensure that Raveendran does not leave the country. An LOC 'on intimation' has already been issued against Raveendran. It was opened more than one and a half years ago at the request of the ED's Kochi office. However, the investigation was later transferred to the Bengaluru office of the agency. The LOC 'on intimation' results in immigration authorities informing a probe agency about the individual going overseas but the person is not stopped from leaving the country.

The Bill was introduced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika on behalf of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Assam Healing (Prevention of Evil) Practices Bill, 2024 aims to bring social awakening in the society and to create healthy, science-based knowledge and safe environment to protect human health against the evil and sinister practices thriving on ignorance and ill-health of people to eradicate the non-scientific healing practices with ulterior motives for exploiting the innocent people and thereby destroying the fibre of the public health of the society. As per the Bill, no person shall take any part in healing practices and magical healing propagation for treatment of any diseases, any disorder or any condition relating to the health of a person (relating to human body) directly or indirectly giving a false impression of treatment to cure diseases, pain or trouble to the human health.

debt aggregator Acre Asset Reconstruction Company (ARC) has put Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals on the block less than a year after taking over the ₹3,858 crore debt of the company. Acre is seeking ₹1,600 crore from bidders — double the ₹811 crore it paid to a seven-bank consortium in March last year, documents accessed by ET showed. The bidding will begin later this week. In a sale notice, Acre ARC said that it plans to sell Nagarjuna as a composite asset including the Kakinada urea plant and three other units. That will include movable fixed assets, plant and machinery and other accessories of the company.
