Reuters Progressive Landmark BBC show country reports Documents show UAE aimed to pursue gas deals ahead of COP28, BBC says
COP28 host the United Arab Emirates planned to discuss possible natural gas and other commercial deals ahead of U.N. climate talks that begin this week, an investigation by the BBC and the Centre for Climate Reporting (CCR) said on Monday. The climate summit will be the first global assessment of progress since the landmark Paris Agreement in 2015, which set a goal of limiting global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit), while aiming for a cap of 1.5C. Climate scientists have said achieving that goal depends on phasing out fossil fuels. The investigation cited leaked documents, which it said were prepared for COP28 President-designate Sultan Al Jaber for meetings with at least 27 governments. They included talking points to further ADNOC's interests in LNG or petrochemicals, as well as state renewables firm Masdar's interests in renewables and other climate-mitigation measures. A COP28 spokesperson told Reuters the documents were «innacurate». «The documents referred to in the BBC article are inaccurate and were not used by COP28 in meetings,» a COP28 spokesperson said.

Citi Provident BBC electronic reports Faster security checks at Indian airports soon. How it works
Currently, passengers have to remove items such as electronic items and liquid from hand luggage and put them on trays for security checks. Once implemented, the 3D CTX machines will reduce the time taken for security checks at airports. Passengers wont need to take out electronic devices like laptops or chargers and liquids and put them on trays at security checkpoints. Airports will also have to reconfigure the layouts at airports as CTX machines are larger than the 2D X-ray scanners in use currently. Besides passenger convenience, CTX machines will also improve detection of prohibited items. London City Airport in April this year, according to a BBC report, allowed electronics to be kept in hand luggage at security after installation of the CTX machines. The UK government has set a June 2024 deadline for most UK airports to install the machines. “CTX will not only improve passenger experience at airports by speeding up PESC process, but also improve detection of prohibited items and make security more robust. This will enhance the capability of detecting non-metallic threat objects like liquid, gel or plastic contraband,” TOI had reported citing sources .

His legacy will endure through BRUTTO, his laid-back Italian restaurant in Farringdon, which will continue operations under the stewardship of Russell's son, Ollie, and daughter-in-law, Jules, according to Restaurant Magazine. In a 2018 revelation, Russell disclosed that one of his cherished family cooking traditions was preparing baked potatoes. He described a simple yet comforting dish, featuring tinned tuna, sweetcorn, mayonnaise on one half, and baked beans on the other, occasionally adding a touch of flair with a homemade coleslaw. The inspiration behind his restaurant menus, he noted, came from «the 95-year-old Italian granny.»
