COST UPS BEAS show week SJVN shares zoom over 9%, hit 52-week high on signing MoU with PFC to fund projects worth Rs 1.19 lakh crore
SJVN shares zoomed over 9% to hit a new 52-week high of Rs 83.7 in Wednesday's trade on BSE after the firm signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Power Finance Corporation (PFC) for financial assistance for projects. «PFC and the Company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for financial assistance to various diversified portfolio of projects including majorly Renewable Energy projects and thermal generation project to be set up at total project cost of about Rs 1,18,826 crore,» the company said in an exchange filing. As per the MoU, the term loan financial assistance is proposed tentatively at 70% of the project cost, which may be increased for renewable energy projects as per project requirements. At 12.27 p.m., the scrip was trading 8.7% higher at Rs 83.2 on BSE. SJVN also delivered multibagger returns, as it has rallied over 170% in the last six months.

SJVN shares jumped 10.5% to hit a 52-week high of Rs 70.7 in Monday's trade on BSE after the company's subsidiary SJVN Green Energy (SGEL) signed a power purchase agreement with Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) to develop an 18 MW solar power project. «The project will be developed on the land parcels of BBMB in the states of Himachal Pradesh & Punjab. The project is scheduled to be commissioned by August 2024,» the company said in an exchange filing. The project has been secured through open competitive bidding at a tariff of Rs 2.63/- in the e-reverse auction organized by the Punjab Energy Development Agency, SJVN said. The project will generate 39.42 million units of energy in the first year of operation, and the cumulative energy generation over a period of 25 years would be about 917 million units, the company added. The Power Purchase Agreement for the power produced from the project has been signed with BBMB for 25 years. SJVN plans to install over 10,000 MW renewable energy capacity in three years while progressing towards its shared vision of becoming a company of 25000 MW by 2030 and 50000 MW by 2040, the company said. At 10.18 am, the scrip was trading 8.8% higher at Rs 69.6 on BSE.

The BSE Sensex was trading 283 points or 0.43% higher at 66,882. Nifty50 was trading at 19,912, up 92 points or 0.46% at around 9.24 am. From the Sensex pack, HCL Tech, Tata Motors, NTPC, Wipro, and Power Grid opened with gains, while only Infosys, Bharti Airtel, and IndusInd Bank opened with cuts. Among individual stocks, SJVN shares opened over 6% higher after the company signed a power-purchase agreement with Bhakra Beas Management Board for an 18-megawatt solar power project. Adani Enterprises shares also opened 3% higher after the company's subsidiary in Singapore signed a joint venture agreement with Kowa Holding Asia, Singapore for sales and marketing of green ammonia, green hydrogen and its derivatives. Sector-wise, Nifty PSU Bank rose 1.07% and Nifty Auto surged 0.54%.

Both entities signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) in this regard on Friday, SJVN said in a statement. Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Monday said the Jal Shakti Department has suffered losses to the tune of Rs 1,411 crore due to floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in the hill state. He said 5,203 drinking water schemes, 1,237 irrigation schemes and 55 sewerage schemes were affected while 101 flood control works were damaged. Agnihotri, who holds the portfolio of Jal Shakti Vibhag, said while 4,623 schemes have been restored so far, it will take time to fix all of them. «We have been able to restore them because of the passionate and steely spirits of our employees,» he said. «I appreciate the work being done by the employees and officers of the department for the restoration of drinking water and sewerage schemes in difficult circumstances,» he added. Agnihotri said the government's aim was to provide relief to the affected people at the earliest.
