India look to put BazBall in a spin: 2-1 up after record Rajkot win, hosts seek to seal series against England in Ranchi Test
This might well be the case, as the fourth Test plays out with India 2-1 up, but, if you think about it, the widening of mindsets, based on perceived cracks, is elsewhere. India’s lead in this series is well-earned, but had it not been for England’s win-at-all-cost mindset, it would have likely been 3-0 in favour of the home side by now. Extraordinary innings from Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett have kept England’s dreams afloat. We live in the age of BazBall, which ensures that the opposition have to adapt to England’s approach in every session, in every innings, if they are to be competitive.

England skipper Ben Stokes says, ‘If the ball's hitting the stumps…’ "We've got to keep on giving him confidence and block out a lot of the external noise and keep him present and focused on what he's trying to achieve, and I'm sure Jonny will come good," he added. Root, who has scored 11,493 runs in 138 Tests with 30 centuries, is also under the scanner. "It's Joe Root, crikey," said McCullum as he batted away criticism of the former captain's lean spell.

India pummel England for record win
Test match to romp to a 434-run win, their biggest victory in terms of runs. India now lead 2-1 with two Tests to play and once again look like a force at home. For some time now the template has been to play on rank turners at home, and this has resulted in a lottery of sorts. But, with England attacking relentlessly, India returned to the old model. On a Rajkot pitch that was built to last five days, with wear and tear coming into play at the back end, India played to their strengths and pulled off a perfect home Test. Records fell along the way. Yashasvi Jaiswal, returning to the crease, creamed 12 sixes — equalling the mark Wasim Akram set in the course of his unlikely double-hundred against Zimbabwe — and became the third Indian to score back-to-back double-hundreds in a series.

"Will look to win series 3-2": Ben Stokes after losing Rajkot Test to India by 434 runs
434-run loss against India on Sunday at Rajkot, England Test skipper Ben Stokes asserted that the team will look to win the rest of the two Tests at Ranchi and Dharamshala respectively to seal the series 3-2. A five-wicket haul by ace all-rounder and first-innings centurion Ravindra Jadeja and top knocks from skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, double centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal and debutant Sarfaraz Khan saw England sink to its knees and surrender to the hosts inside four days. «Ben Duckett played an unbelievable innings. That was the tone we wanted to set throughout the innings. It was about identifying that opportunity and getting as close to India's total. We wanted to bowl yesterday but it was earlier than when we wanted. Sometimes game plans don't work and that was the case,» Stokes said in the post-match presentation.

Third Test: There's no respite for England on Day 3
Kuldeep Yadav bounded in from the Media Box End at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot and kept England’s batsmen honest. There was bounce, there was turn there was an energy that was desperately needed on a good batting surface. And when play ended on the third day, there was Kuldeep again, a smile on his face, batting at the very same end, doing nightwatchman duties. In the course of the day, Kuldeep had pricked the Bazball balloon and taken India from the doldrums to a position of strength. England began on 207 for 2 from only 35 overs, and were all set to make a mockery of India’s first-innings 445. Ben Duckett was in the mood and Joe Root not far behind.
