markets Career Actor show stars Schools TV actor recalls his brief stint as a vegetable seller, reveals he got into a debt of Rs 2 cr, was ‘ignored’ by friends
Rajesh Kumar decided to leave a steady career in television in 2017 to pursue a career in farming. The actor, who has starred in many iconic shows such as ‘Sarabhai Vs. Sarabhai’, ‘Yeh Meri Family’, ‘Neeli Chhatri Waale', etc., found that farming proved to be a much bigger challenge than he had anticipated. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, the actor said that he started a business of being a “family farmer.” During the initial stages of the startup, some friends became his clients, while many ignored him. “A few of them subscribed to it, the rest of them chose to ignore it. There’s a long list of people who at first said ‘Wow, what an amazing idea’ and then ignored me. They were the people with whom I had shared screen space,” he revealed. The startup didn’t take off, and the actor had to sell vegetables. The actor got emotional as he recalled how he became a public spectacle when he sold vegetables outside his son’s school. His son eventually requested his teachers to buy vegetables from him. “After the start-up failed, I started to sell vegetables outside my son’s school. It made people think, ‘He has gone mad. Why is he selling vegetables?’ It happened so that when my son saw me selling vegetables outside his school, he went to his teachers and said, ‘Would you please buy vegetables from my dad?’ He was in third grade at that time. Then all of his classmates went to different classrooms to inform them I was selling vegetables, and requested the teachers to buy it from me,” he reminisced.

markets COST Career Racing Death reports Department Stress needs an audit too: Tragic death of EY employee sparks concerns over intense work pressure & client demands
EY Global, this month has brought the spotlight on the prevailing intense work pressure in the audit profession as firms grapple with clients imposing tight deadlines, growing complexity of audits, a spike in disclosures, heightened regulatory scrutiny, and an unfavourable risk-reward ratio. Leading auditors say a key reason for increased work pressure is from the client side, who often pushes auditors to crunch deadlines for results announcements. Meeting tight deadlines is viewed as a sign of professionalism and efficiency, and, in some cases, also due to alignment with global standards. For instance, if the full-year results of a company were to be announced in the fourth week of April, the chief financial officer may want them by the third week.
